How's THAT for service?!!

I saw my family doctor the other day because I have a sinus infection. While there we talked about my upcoming hyster. My gyne had asked him to assist in the surgery but fam doc said that he would be on vacation that week and moving. I guess he saw how disappointed I looked because he then turned around and said "since your surgery is early in the morning, I think I'll come in anyway and assist."

I was so impressed! He's assisting even though he's on vacation.

Now THAT'S service.

Laura
Isn't it great when you find a medical professional and knows what service is? I have a great gyn, and have nothing but accolades for her and her staff. An example, I had several questions, so I faxed her this morning. I was on my way back into my office from faxing the questions and the phone rang, it was the DD's nurse. She apologized for not responding faster...I laughed and said, hey I just got back to my desk. So far that is how responsive they have all been....and I do not expect it to change.
I think the sad thing is that that kind of service stands out as such an oddity...wouldn't it be nice if it were the norm?

It really would be nice if it were the norm...but unfortunately it's not.

I work in a pediatrician's office and we really try to offer that kind of service to our little patients and their parents. People are consistently surprised. I see it as a sad commentary on our medical system.

I, for one, plan to write my fam doc a big thank you letter after my surgery.
