Hello tashapoppet,
Sorry you're in pain. What kind of activities have you participated in over the past week or so? You may have done too much and now your body is telling you. It is critical that you NOT overdo it, and continue to rest so that you will heal properly. You just had major surgery and you're right, there is a a lot more going on inside of you than you realize. What type of hyst did you have, abdominal or vaginal? Either way, you have many sutures inside of you and like most people, we heal from the outside in. I had an abdominal hyst (vertical incision) on Nov. 13th and even though my exterior incision has healed over, I know that the interior work done is still extremely fragile. It is definitely normal that you still feel sore right now, and will for quite some time. It's been said by medical staff that it takes a person a good year before ones body fully recovers from a surgery. As for the fatigue, that will be with us for a while as well.
Please make certain to tell your doctor tomorrow about your current pain. The fact that you are showing new bruising on the side that's giving you trouble is a tell-tale sign that something is wrong. Hopefully it's nothing that will require another surgery, but there have been women who have had to have other procedures done to correct/repair damage they did during their recovery. In fact, some women are living with permanent/irreversible damage from over-doing it after surgery. I am three weeks out and am still sore, tired and have some pain when I bend over too much, twist, and when I empty my bowels & bladder. I understand this to be normal and although I'm beginning to feel somewhat "normal" again, I know how delicate my innards are and am very careful not to do too much. My body definitely lets me know when to stop. I can feel my sutures drawing tight and have twinges of pain that feel like a hot knife or hot toothpicks going through me. I do a little bit, then rest a while.
I am very concerned for you and hope you will tell your doctor. Please rest and continue to take it easy. Let us know how your doctor's visit goes.
~Pam
