What are you doing regarding boredom?

I thought I'd read (can't focus because of Vicodin)

I thought I'd like watching tv all day (OMG It's so awful)

I thought I'd work on my scrapbooks (can't get comfortable sitting to do so)

So my dear sisters, what are YOU doing to alleviate boredom?

Christmas shopping is done .... I can't stand this but know I have to.

RELAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.... that's my one word of advice! I remember sitting at home feeling lonely too... although I didnt seem as bored. I slept ALOT, and I'm a TV watcher, so that came easy for me. When you're up and at it again, you'll look back and wish the same!

I agree with the reading. I have a stack of magazines that people have brought me, and I haven't opened one of them. Yep, the vicodin is to blame. I do read the paper in the morning with my coffee, but not as thorough as I did before surgery. From then I do watch a little tv, and I'm not a big tv fan, but I have come to like Reg and Kelly, Rachel Ray, and then The View. When that is over I take a shower, then time for lunch, then a nap. Then it is time for the kids to come home, then my husband, and that becomes entertainment. I do a lot of email and recipe searching during the shows. My husband is a great cook, so I find the recipes, call him with the ingredients and he has been having a great time in the kitchen. Wish he liked housecleaning as much I also spend some time here on hystersisters. I read something on here everyday that I can relate to.

I know a lot of sisters are grieving the loss of their uterus, I'm grieving the loss (although short term) of my life. I miss my busy life, going and doing, being around people, heck, just driving and running errands. This has been really lonely for me. But I am thankful to have great friends that call, or email me, and a wonderful family picking up the slack (but not all of it of what I cannot do.

Well, I am doing massive Christmas shopping. Online of course. I'm knocking it all out pretty quickly too. Very fun and with a few pain pills, it makes using the credit card a little dangerous.

Here are some of things I tried during the hazy days of painkillers:

Sudoku puzzle book (You can pick it up and put it down without needing to really concentrate over a length of time)

Public Radio discussion shows (if your local station plays only classical music during the day, you can find them online).

Online Xmas shopping. (I'm so jealous that you're done! And yes--Sister Tricia--credit cards and controlled substances are a bad combination. I just shipped a big box o' stuff back to Macy's. I bought some really ugly jammies for myself and a second set as a gift.

Good luck getting through this week. I was able to focus on reading by week 3, so it's coming soon!

It was my goal to have my holiday shopping done BEFORE I had surgery. I am really glad I did that. Looking forward to concentrating by next week, have tons of books to read.

What are you doing regarding boredom?

I had a TAH on Nov. 1 and can certainly relate to being bored. I rotate from watching tv, getting up and walking around, reading, and checking out HysterSisters. When the weather's nice, I like to walk out to our chicken coop to see what the hens are up to. They are very entertaining.

There is only so much Tetris and Mahjongg I can play in a day. My eyes are becoming crossed! I check my email, my work email, then different websites including Hystersisters. And I'm chatting online with a friend who lives in California. I've stooped to giving my sons nicknames...Little Lord Fauntleroy and His Royal Hynie-ness. I'm going back to work wednesday as a lunch monitor, I think I've completely lost my mind lol

I'm bored too!

Well, I certainly sympathize! I'm not a TV or Movie person and I can't carry the thread of a book to save my life! I too thought I would scrapbook, read, relax and generally enjoy my time on the couch... I was a little short sighted I guess. I'm trying to paint (acrylics) and listen to fun music to break the boredom.. a game of canasta if I can talk someone into playing with me! I've read a lot here and am thankful for that.. Hope 'relaxing' gets a little less tedious for you AND me!
