Surgery date 01/25-lots of questions!
I have been reading some of the articles and things, and I wanted to ask about the recovery time of LSH vs. TAH or other. My doctor told me that the hospital stay was shorter and time off work was also shorter, but will I have the same pain issues as a woman who has TAH (both in the hospital and at home)?

Surgery date 01/25-lots of questions!
I had a LSH. I was supposed to stay overnight in the hospital, but ended up coming home that night. I had NO pain post-op until I got up to walk and then it was only minimal. I moved very slowly for the first 10 days until I got the stitches out. At my 10-day post-op visit, I was cleared to do anything I wanted. My recovery so far as been pretty uneventful. My biggest problems have been insomnia, hot flashes and night sweats. I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Surgery date 01/25-lots of questions!
Hi- I had one two years ago. It was not that bad! Moving is slow for the first week.
The worst pain was when my son accidently fell on me!
I never used more than Motrin. I was driving after two weeks, and back to normal after a month.
The worst part was that they didn't let me vacuum for six weeks!

Surgery date 01/25-lots of questions!
First gyno who wants to do a TAH says hospital stay minimum 3 days, no driving for 1 week, no lifting for 3 months. Second gyno who wants to do vaginal says in and out of hospital in 12 hours max, much less pain, much less recovery time. Every person is different in their pain tolerance and what precisely needs to be done, and hence the procedure needed. I would think if you're a candidate to the non-ab procedure, pick that one. Heard it's just easier all the way around, but i don't know since I'm still travelling around to different gynos (eventually).

Hi MzPitt,
I had a LSH and I still very glad I was a good candidate for the surgery type.
Here are two links that might help you with your research. One goes over the ~different~ types of hysts and recovery times and the other link is on the LSH surgery:
