Any Medications Other Than Morphine

Hey there .
I had TVH, @2 weeks ago. I had morphine in recovery, and it didn't do enough. I asked for Demerol WITH Gravol (Gravol for a sleep aid, not naseau) It works great. I got it about every four hours round the clock. I was sent home on Tylenol 3 which was good, but not enough to last. You can also get Toradol, IV or pills - I had these after C section, it is good for pain but doesnt make you sleepy. Be your own advocate for pain meds. I learned the hard way

With my TVH I had no Pain Pump, only IV Tordol & Advil the next day. When I had my ovarian cyst removed-vertical abdominal incision-I had demerol. Both were good. I don't think I've ever had morphine other than through the epidural. Voice your concerns-its your body. You and your Dr will know what's best for you.

I got Percocet. I thought it even provided better pain relief than the morphine, and my pain wasn't anywhere near so bad that I needed instant relief with the morphine pump.

I had a Demerol pump because I was allergic to Morophine but didn't know till after my surgery that I was. Every hour I could push it if needed and the right dosage was administered. My Mom is a nurse and she looked out for me to see I got the best care while I was in the hospital. My own private nurse was great : )

While in the I was administered Dilaudid through a patient-controlled IV pump. It worked well for me in that I didn't experience any nausea or other side-effects, although I still felt as if I had been "run over by a freight train" in my mid-section.

I had a demerol pump because I get nauseated from morphine. I had this for about a day and then they switched to vicodin.

I had a good deal of itching from the morphine pump after my hysterectomy, so after my hematoma removal surgery in 2005, they gave me fentanyl in my PCA device. It worked well... but to be honest, I found the oral meds better because I tend to doze off after hitting the pump button, only to wake up with everything worn off.

I had Toradol alternated with Percodan after a c-section in 2000 and it was fantastic relief.
