Ripped a Stitch?

Just curious how you would know if you have torn a stitch? Sometimes I move the wrong way and feel the pain for hours later.

Ripped a Stitch?

Me too. If I reach moderatley high, if I hum to music, laugh too hard or cough it is like something sharp is poking me and it hurts for a while. I don't know if this is ripping or just pulling. If it was ripped wouldn't it bleed a bit?

Ripped a Stitch?

Depending on how far along you are in your healing it would bleed more and different types of blood. Mine tore within one week and I had a lot (a pad an hour) of blood mixed with yellowish fluid (tmi sorry). After my surgery to repair the stitches, there was one tiny stitch that tore again and I have been bleeding steadily since then - but it is far less blood (a pad every 2-3 hours for the first week and getting less and less). I did not feel it the first time, probably because it was so close to the surgery I did not differentiate it from all the other pain, and since I had cellulitis I am not sure if I feel the stitch or just the infection. I think that "twinges" of pain when you move a certain way are just the feeling of sore insides -- and organs that are shifting to fill the space that you now have ...

I am assuming you are talking about your vaginal cuff stitches -- if you are talking about internal stitches it is very unlikely that they would tear after 48 hours (not completely impossible, just unlikely) - and these would cause you to get very sick very fast.

If you are worried, you should call your doctors office.

Good luck.

what is the difference between vaginal cuff and internal stictches?

Ripped a Stitch?

The vaginal cuff is right at the end of the vagina, the type of "internal" stitches I was referring to were inside your abdominal cavity (harder to get to and stitches tearing there could lead to either an amount of internal bleeding that could be life-threatening - from arteries/veins, or very serious infections). The vaginal cuff, though not insignificant if torn or infected, is not generally life-threatening.

sorry for the confusion.
