Good news today...

Hi, I hope it's okay to post this here...I got my pathology results today when I went for my one week post-op...no malignancies found anywhere! I'm very grateful, but also wondering how long it takes to get over the feeling there is something lurking around inside of me that doesn't belong there. Of course, to be honest, anyone we meet anywhere could have something "lurking around" and not have any idea, right? So, in a way, getting frequent check-ups for a while kinda puts us ahead of the game in that sense.

My doc said the oncologist still wants to speak to the pathologist to get a little more specific info about the location of the original cancer, and there is a slight possibility I will still have radiation "just in case", but most likely we'll just be doing the every 3 month thingy.

I hope it's okay to post this here, with so many others having chemo, etc. In a way, I almost feel guilty. My sister referred to me as a cancer survivor earlier today, and I told her I feel funny calling myself that, since I didn't really do anything to fight like some of you wonderful ladies have done. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you, that all will be well for you and your families.

Thanks to everyone for your support.

Good news today...

Keep on Trusting!
Congruatulations on your good news!
It's ok to post here....you know, it gives hope to others going through what you have gone through. And as far as the worry, I can say that it's probably always going to be lurking in the back of your mind, what a close call you had. HOWEVER...the key is to now take that and really turn it into something positive in your life. Being checked frequently WILL help you....you'll know that if anything IS lurking, your medical staff is right on top of it to take control.

Relax, and enjoy the Holidays!

xoxo

Good news today...

Congratulations, it was a close call and you are lucky getting the "best" dx nevertheless you are a survivor so don't hesitate posting here. It takes a while to feel nothing is still lurking or that the cancer will come back somewhere even when we have been lucky to have it caught in a very early stage. For example it is easy to become nervous/unsettled before check-ups worrying the doctor may find something but as K/9 notes they are very important.
Hope you have/will celebrate your good news when you feel up to it.

Good news today...

I felt the same way (still do), they may have gotten it all when they did my cone biopsy, nothing (luckily) showed up in my report either. But I always know that a distant metastisis could pop up etc. I think the further from the dx you get the less it weighs on your mind.

Another sister suggested the book "picking up the pieces" I found this to be a wonderful book for putting life after cancer back together. Also talks about feelings and thoughts other cancer patients had (letting you know you are not alone in those thoughts).
