Test Results
Hello Ladies,
I had yet another repeat pap on December 4. I am still waiting on my test results....getting nervous now! In my experience, if my test results were good, I got the results within a week. If the test results were bad, I got the results within two weeks. I called the office on Monday and the nurse informed me the results are not back yet.
Wondering if maybe the holidays are effecting the lab or the doctor's office. Any other ladies experiencing longer wait times on test results this time of year?
Someone please give me a bandaid!!!

s, Jessica. Try not to read anything bad into the delay, there could be many reasons.
I hope you hear something soon.

Thanks! I am trying to remember that just because I have not recieved my results does not mean that the results are bad! Plus my doctor is only at that office on Monday's and Friday's so my results could be back but we have to wait for the doctor to review the results.
Guess I really just needed someone to tell me this!
I really hate the waiting game. Hopefully I'll get great results and that will be the perfect Christmas present!

I can't imagine that the results would matter as to how long it takes to get the them back. The test would be run the same, regardless of results. It doesn't take any longer to run a negative smear than a positive smear, as far as I know.
Hope your results are good,
Janie

The way the doctor explained it to me is if the test results show any abnormal cells, the lab will retest and/or send it over to lab person who handles abnormal cells to figure out if it is due to a bad sample, a yeast infection or if it is cervical displasia and what level.
So yes, the test results will take longer if there is any abnormal cells vs. clean pap smear.

Perhaps my doctor does a different kind of pap smear. He does the thin prep test and it take a week, regardless of outcome. I guess every doctor's office and lab is different.
Best,
Janie
