Total lap. hyst. on Dec 13

I did attempt to post once, but I think I got out after I did a draft preview, and deleted it! Oh well ...

I had my total lap. hyst. on Dec. 13 (after spending 3 months trying to shrink things enough with Lupron so I could have the lap. hyst - it worked!). My surgery took 3 hours - I had ALOT of uterus to remove. I reacted to the IV morphine in the recovery room, so they gave me some Benedryl, which wiped me out for a good deal of the rest of the day. Once I came to, I was able to walk around quite a bit. Catheter came out at about 5:00 a.m. the next morning, and I worked on peeing (it was a bit problematic at first, but then sorted itself out). I didn't have to have any more Percoset after the first night - they had me on Torodol. I went home the next day (Thursday).

Late Thursday night, a huge storm came through our area, and wiped out half the power grid. We were without power for 24 hours. During that interval, I caught a horrible headcold. I had the horrible gas for a few days (it turned out that Peri-Collace turned out to be too much for me - I'm on 1 collace per day now). As of 5 days after the surgery, I'm off of the Torodol as well - not taking any anti-inflammatories nor painkillers.

I would say that I've had a fairly easy time of it compared to many of you - I've been lucky!

Total lap. hyst. on Dec 13

I had a total lap on November 28th and I have to say my recovery has been uneventful. This is definatly the way to go. Mine took a little over 3.5 hours. They found alot of endo. Surprise, because it wasn't there when I had my tubal 2 years ago. Dr. couldn't believe there was that much and wondered how I was walking. Vicadon was my answer. Anyway I feel wonderful. Hope you do as well.

I had the wonderful surprise that they were able to do the lavh on me...they didn't know if they could so I went into surgery wondering. I think it turned out great! I was off pain meds after two days. Told I could have ibuprofen if needed...used very, very little. Sure I was (and still am 9 weeks later) sore...not as sore now...LOL...but it was and is bearable. I had everything removed due to endometrial cancer, so no hormones, and really have had no hot flashes to speak of. I feel pretty darned good! The miracles of moderne medicine! And never need to wear those bulky pads again! WAHOO!...I expect we are all going to find 2007 will be a great year...a whole new beginning for all of us! I wish you all the best!!!
