belly button hurts 6 months post LAVH

Has anyone else had this? Ever since my surgery around my belly button has been tender off and on. I can almost cup my hand around the spot; the upper left side to my belly button. Today it has hurt more than it ever has and it has been all day. I am using a hot water bottle but it just hurts! Otherwise I feel fantastic with regards to the surgery. If it was not a holiday weekend I would go to the docs.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this! I still had the occasional residual pains here and there as far out as 6 months after my surgery, too, but we're all different in this process. Since you're experiencing more acute symptoms today, I would give your doc's office a call -- maybe there is someone on call who might be able to at least help you over the phone to determine if you should head to an urgent care facility or if a followup appointment with your doc is warranted. I think you're smart to pay close attention to these symptoms and think towards getting some medical advice and attention. Please don't let it go on without getting medical advice, even if it means going to the ER. If there is something wrong, the sooner it's treated, the better.

I hope you are feeling better very soon!

belly button hurts 6 months post LAVH

Hi Toonces,
weird....went to bed really late last night and noticed red marks, looking almost like stretch marks all around my belly button but also finally having no pain. Just woke up, and the marks are all but gone, my belly feels so much flatter and still absolutly no pain. I wonder if that was the dreaded swelling belly thing. thinking about it, I had mopped and cleaned the entire house Friday afternoon. Maybe the marks were from the hot water bottle, it was as hot as I could stand it. I don't know. I will if it starts up again do as you suggest doc wise, if not will call promptly Tues am. And at the worst, I go to the neurologist on Wed for an adjustment on my migraine meds and will ask his opinion

I had belly button surgery 6 years ago when I had my tubes tied. Ever since then, my belly button occassionally gets sore and somtimes also gets red. I think I get a little infection in there. I never had this problem before the belly button surgery. I have made it a part of my routine to dry my belly button after I shower with a q tip. Since I have started doing that, my belly button has not gotten red or sore. I don't know if it is because of the scar or what but it never happened before the belly button surgery.

This makes me a litte nervous because I will be facing belly button surgery again in the near future to have my gall bladder removed.
