Blood clots

Has anyone had one since their surgery? If so, could you share your experience. I have shooting pain under my right knee. There is a little swelling, and blue veins popping up. I have a nurse friend who looked at it for me and could see the swelling and said looks like vericose veins. The pain is acute when it happens, but is not constant. Like now, it's just kind of a dull ache, laying down it seems to be okay, but walking is when I get the pain.

My plan is to go in to the clinic here come Tuesday if I am still having pain. It started a few days after coming home and gradually is getting worse. I've never had a blood clot so have no clue what it would be like. I just know I have a lot of pain behind that knee.

If you have had a blood clot, please share your .experience.

Thanks

Blood clots

Don't wait til Tuesday. Call your doctor if you are having pain. Your doctor should have an answering service to answer her/his calls. Tell them what your concerns are.

Blood clots

Please call your doctor. I am just a nursing student but clots can form in any vein (even the small varicose ones) and they can break off and travel to the lungs, heart, brain etc. Please!!!! call you doctor. I am very sorry if I am being to alarming but I am only telling you what I would tell myself!

Blood clots

Aretta:
I had a blood clot diagnoised about 3 weeks after my surgery. The doctor's continued telling me in that 3 week period, before I took it upon myself to go to the Emergency Room, that my symptoms where that of post surgery trauma. In my case I had a Pulmonary Embolism. YES, absolutely go to the ER, they will mostlikely do an ultra sound on your legs...it's not an invasive test and can probably reassure you. You might also ask them to do a D-dimer, that will show if your blood is carring a lot of fibrens in it, that could mean a clot. Please let us know how you make out. The best of luck to you!
