question about PMS after surgery

I have a question about having PMS after a partial hysterectomy. I'm scheduled next week and as far as i know, keeping my ovaries. i'd like to hear from ladies who've had it done as to whether they still have PMS or not. thanks

question about PMS after surgery

I had the LAVH which is a complete hyst (meaning removal of the cervix and uterus). Since I did not have the BSO (bilaterial salpingo oophorectomy), I have both of my ovaries and still experience PMS.

For me, my PMS is kind of a roller coaster ride and has been for the last 6 years! Some months it can be wild, some months no big deal. I think part of my situation is that I used bcp to help with my cycles for most of my menustrating years and the bcp helped with my PMS. So now that it is just me and my hormones, we don't always get along well!

If you do find that you have "intense" PMS after your hyst, your doctor may have some options you could try to help out. Once I can get my migraines under control, my GYN plans to have me try natural progesterone cream.

Many best wishes to you!

question about PMS after surgery

the worst thing about the pms for me is the mood swings, they're terrible especially for the people around me. i don't mean to be mean but i am.i'm about to start (it figures, my surgery is next week) and the last few days i've been so mean because of the pms,it happens every month.

question about PMS after surgery

I had a TAH 11 months ago and did keep my ovaries.

The first couple of months I did have twinges, much better than the cramps I used to have. I did still have minor headaches and the MUNCHIES. I did still get tired at menstrual time.

For months four through six my PMS subsided. No more twinges, munchies went way down and the headaches are almost non existant. I still get tired.

Now at 11 months post op I am on an even path of no or very little PMS. The big thing is I still get tired.
