my skin versus the adhesive patch

Hi Sisters. My skin is NOT liking the estradiaol patch and my insurance only covers the generic. I may need to go back to pills. Is there a pill with 0.1mg estradiol and prometrium 100mg in it?? I would like to combine both pill and patch drugs and avoid having to take 2. Any suggestions?

I don't know of a pill that contains both estradiol and prometrium. If you want to go the compounding route, a compounding pharmacist can mix progesterone and estradiol together in one pill. Although if your insurance doesn't cover the brand name patches it's unlikely it would cover the compounded hormones.

Perhaps you could check with your insurance company as to what patches they do cover. I know my insurance company has a tiered coverage; with generics being much cheaper than the brand names. So they do cover the brand name products, but it just costs a bit more to get the brand name.

my skin versus the adhesive patch

Hi Mimic!
My doc gave me a tip this week when she put me on the Vivelle Dot. She said to take a small amount of Milk of Magnesia and spread a thin layer on your skin where you are going to put the patch. Let it dry thoroughly and then stick the patch on. I guess the chalk in it creates a barrier to protect your skin! I hope it helps!!!!
