Burning and Itching

Hello New Sisters, I had my surgery almost 4 weeks ago. It went well, I had a good medical team and left the hospital the next day. I pushed the departure because I couldn't lay still and was able to do the necessary bodily functions to be released. I'm home and have resumed drivng and light chores. I probably do a little to much but I rest often. My question and concern has to do with the itching. It is a nightmare. It starts with a burning sensation, then goes to the an awful deep tissue itching. I can't have anything touch my stomach or it is worse. A hot shower helps but I can't take one 4 -5 times a day. Does anyone have something similar or suggestions? I have other questions but right now that one is most pressing - okay itchy, right now... I've tried heating pads, vitamin E, cocoa butter, and lotion. Thanks

Burning and Itching

I have it too.
It drives me NUTS.
I find one of those hot/cold bags frozen helps some but really nothing is taking it away entirely.

Burning and Itching

How long does it last? Does it taper off with more time?

Burning and Itching

Well, I'm only a week ahead of you. I had it almost all the time for awhile, now it's maybe 1/2 time? I think I just might be busier now and not noticing it as much too.

Thank you, knowing I'm not alone in this helps. I'm going to try a cold compress tonight.

Burning and Itching

I used hydrocortisone cream. Not sure if that's okay to use, but it really helped my itching. The itchy drives you batty, but a good sign that the incisions are healing.
