Blood testing - routine?

Just wondering if any UK ladies have had their levels tested since their hysterectomies? It doesn't seem to be the standard practice here like it is in the US. I'd like to have my blood levels tested, but my doctor has never mentioned it. I'd like to know what my oestrogen, thyroid and cholesterol levels are now and then in 6 months. Do you think it's OK to ask?

I don't know that it's standard practice in the US to test levels. My gyn never even suggested it. It wasn't until I found a doc that was more knowledgeable about hormones that the suggestion was made by the doc to test my levels.

I do think asking to have your cholesterol and thyroid tested is a good idea. My current doctor does this as part of my annual well woman exam. I don't know that the hormone tests are that important unless you're having major difficulties achieving balance. I only had my hormone levels tested because I was curious to see where they were at. And my doc now recommends that I do this about every 3 years just to be sure that my levels are at a good level and are not too high.
