Morning everyone

Midnight New Year's Eve found me snuggled nicely in my bed sleeping quite well I just couldn't hang to see the New Year in.

Yesterday was a busy day... food shopping (thankfully the stores were open)... laundry... house cleaning. And, of course, back to eating better!! I did get out with the dogs as there was a lull in the rain for a little bit. The evening was relaxing and I'm happily into my new book.

Today:

B - kashi oatmeal w/ walnuts
Ss - banana, apple, yogurt
L - salad
D - leftover pork roast w/ brussel sprouts/rice/pearl onions

The holiday damage is that I didn't loose anything for the month of December... but didn't gain. January's goal is to loose at least 5 lbs.

Well... it's back to work today -- so have a great day all!!

Hi Sue and latecoming BEST friends! 2007 awaits and may it hold only the best of surprises for everyone!

Sue, congratulations on NOT gaining. That's a good start toward your weight loss goal for January, right?

Yesterday I ate not-too-terribly-badly if I don't get too specific. My goal is to eat less junk food, and move more. Again, it's a good start. Even cutting out the junk has to get me in a better place! The big question is, when do I label something tasty (and maybe even homemade) as junk? I wonder if the local community college offers a course...? JK, I can tell because if it tastes good and has the proper "mouthfeel" then it must be junk!

Yesterday was another one of work since DH LT still was not well enough to put Dad to bed. I was glad to join my folks for a bowl of organic and pretty healthy soup that DH LT had made, and a small(smaller than usual) dessert. It was a reasonable start to 2007. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Have a great day, my BEST friends. I am grateful for every one of you, and wish you well. See you later ~

'Morning Sue & it looks like Desk might be typing at the same time...Hope you are all well. Hi to all who follow.

We returned last night from our weeks journey to NJ & NC...and 30 hours+ of driving...Dad is well and MiL is well, and all are hoping to remain in their homes for another while. So far so good.

Did not read all the posts to catch up. Will try to review a few.
I did well eating...weighed last night and was still the same, and that is good for me over the holiday!

We did return home to sad news...our dear friend died yesterday after a long (5 years or more) battle with cancer. She was only in her early 50's. Her DH called us last night, and he said he had just written an email to us to see if I would join them at the hospital in Houston to give him some relief now that the holidays were over and all his children had to go back to their homes/school. But she is now rejoicing with Jesus and she is no longer in pain...just the family is hurting from missing her so much. She was an awesome lady.

It's back to the battle of the bulge...I think we all get inspired at the first of the new year-
First goal...to loose 9 pounds by Valentines day...15 by Easter (I don't know when it is...hope it's late this year so I have extra time!)
OK, I have lots of things to do today. No DgD today so I have to move it while she's not here! She's back tomorrow.

Good Morning my BEST Friends!
I'm so glad to have you guys each morning to get me motivated. It's so wonderful having each of you.

I've signed up for the new 6 week Challenge at my Curves. I forget which week it starts, but I've got a couple until then. So I'll get myself back into my good habits first. That will help I know. I hate the Yo-yo stuff with dieting. Why is it, once we get the weight off, we can't keep it off.

Today will be Curves, walking and laundry all day. If I have time, I'll start taking down decorations. I didn't get any of that done yesterday, due to our power being out several times. We think maybe there was a serious house fire a few streets over that might have been the culprit. The last time it went out for over 3 hours. I was starting to hunt for candles and such, but it came back on just before 5:00. (Which ironically was the time for the Michigan/USC football game. Go USC! :cheer: ).

Ok..time to get off the computer for a bit. Lots to do and lots of moving involved. I think I'll do some purging of snacks too, now that the offical holidays are done. If we didn't eat them last year, I sure don't want to start in on them now.

Have a BEST OP day everyone!

Hey..Only 358 days till Christmas! Sorry I couldn't resist.
Oh..Ali...Easter is on April 8th this year. I just changed over all my calendars.

Good morning to Sue, Desk, Ali, Nancy and All Who Follow!!

I'm up and ready to go today...a quick shopping trip with my mother to join her in her quest for the perfect chairs (do they really exist???). Then home by noon or shortly after, so I can get some (AKA TONS) of laundry done. I took the afternoon off yesterday to go for a nice, long drive with DH. It was relaxing...just what the doctor ordered. It's icy here...the kind of ice that clings to the tree branches and looks like crystal when the sun hits it. We have some pretty lakes here, so we drove around those...lots of ice fishermen enjoying a beautiful day. We had the heat turned up and nice music playing...It was a great way to begin the new year, and I needed some stress relief as my DM is driving me crazy (is that mean to say?).

Ali, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. What a blessing for you to have had her in your life.

Today, I pledge to eat properly and put in at least 15 minutes on my recumbant bicycle. I've noticed that since I haven't gotten out to do the daily walks this past week, I'm a little huffy puffy. It might be slow going. DH has promised to join me in this weight loss path. He has about 30 pounds to lose, so we'll be walking in the evenings together.

Since I've made these initial changes in my diet (cutting sugar and simple carbs), I've lost 10 pounds. I have remained steady for weeks, so I think I need the extra push of some aerobic exercise (the bike) and some weight lifting. How can I stick with the routine...I start out with gusty and then lose interest. Any tips?

Better get going! Have a GREAT day!

Good morning everyone!!!!!! Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Just stay OP, exercise and drink plenty of water...............that should be all of our New Year's resolutions this year. I want to lose 15 pounds by the time my grandson is born. He is due in 15 weeks so that is a pound a week which is doable. I weighed in at 189.4...........still under 190. I will be going back to Curves tonight and hopefully get in my 200th time by the end of this month. I have tons of things to do so I will check back in later. Hang in there ladies..........we CAN DO IT!

Hi BEST Friends,
It is a beautiful day here. Gertie and I will be out walking for sure. We took a walk yesterday and met up with our neighbors granddaughter who is 5 out trying out her new training wheels. so cute. Decorations are down, just have to bag up the wreaths and put them away. The house looks and feels so bare.
I am back on the OP wagon and won't fall off, I think maybe I will chain myself to it so I can't be shoved off too! Nothing passes these lips that I don't allow and I have been allowing some bad things in. I am determined to lose, my best friend and her DH were here for New Years Eve and the date for our October trip to North Carolina is the 14 - 18, so I don't want to look the way I did last year on the beach. It is a goal to lose as much as I can by then. I bought an exercise ball, it didn't come with any instructions so will look to the internet for how to use it. Going to Curves, walking, using my treadmill and the ball are my daily goals for moving. Smaller portions and healthier choices for eating. It is so easy to fall back into bad eating habits.
Llyn, congrats on the weight loss
Ali so sorry to hear of your loss.
PJ, you ride with DH sounds so nice and even romantic.
Sue, that is great to get through the Holidays without a gain, good for you!!!
Desk, I hope DJLT is better soon, I am thinking anything with sugar should be labeled junk, that is the hardest thing to shake.
Nancy, I think if one of my kids had been in NY on new years eve i would have been glued to the TV to see if we could see them in the ocean of people. Our six week challenge starts on the 11th, but I am starting now, the owner wants me to join it again but DH may be losing his job and I don't want to spend any money right now. (due to imports of steel) :burning: a bit unnerving.
I buy Womans World mags and there is a couple of diets and I am going to try for a few days to see how they work. I am off to get busy and pay bills. YUK

Hi All,

I have one last day off then it's back to work tomorrow. Actually I'm looking forward to getting back to a normal routine.

I did get my tree down & everything packed away yesterday. I always feel kind of sad when it is time to haul the tree out to the curb.

We had pork loin & sauerkraut (as Nancy said for luck) for dinner last night.

Today so far has been nothing. I will probably have some soup later on.

I've got to get out and run some errands. Get the oil changed in my car, do a short grocery run.

See you all later,
Llyn

Hello everyone

PJ was nice enough to invite me to join you when I mentioned that I have gained a whopping 15 pounds in the last two months. Currently I am 174.5 (LOL at that half pound thing) I was already 20 pounds overweight
before the surgery. So this is not a good thing
I think this is the heaviest I have ever been in my life including my three pregnancies.
Anyway, after like 40 years of my life of not having to even think about what or when I ate, as I was thin as a rail, I am faced with the challenge of thinking about all
this all of the time.
I have to get serious about this and stay serious about
it. In addition to looking like I am six months pregnant
I am miserably uncomfortable. Also I am sure
that there are health issues in having a beach ball of
fat wrapped around my middle.
I had great results on south beech, but I cannot sustain it for more than a few weeks. As an Italian, I cannot
imagine a life without pasta. So I am going to try to create my own eating plan. Just sensible and I have to get my butt moving. So I am beginning this day with a commitment to go to the gym Tues, Wed and Thurs
I may need some help in keeping to that as I am sooo
not in the mood to do this
It is soo good to have sisters to share this journey with
I would not have made it thru my surgery without this site and once again when I need support, here you are
again

Hugs to all
Harley
