Sharp, Stabbing Vaginal Pain
Hello All,
Does anyone out there ever have a sharp, stabbing vaginal pain that is not related to sex. I experience this from time to time. I had the wonderful opportunity of experiencing it last night. There seems to be alot of pressure internally. Even externally there was some pain. Sometime if affects my rectum. It mainly happens when I'm wearing tampons. Last night I was not wearing a tampon. These pains actually led to my colonoscopy in August.
My concern is it could be that rectocele. My surgeon has not checked me out for any of that stuff. It seems alot of you girls get the full workup prior to surgery. I also wonder if they can tell that kind of stuff with a TLH and don't need the extra test. The test for rectocele sounds awful. No sort of prolapse has been mentioned either. I know some of this stuff does not show up with regular testing all the time. I had reflux surgery 18 months ago and had to undergo a slew of test. However when they operated they found I had a severe hiatel hernia that had been missed. Go figure. They fixed it at the same time and no other surgery had to be done for that. I really want 1 surgery and for it fix anything wrong in the pelvic area.
Also, I have suspected adenomyosis. Could this be causing this pressure and pain?

Sharp, Stabbing Vaginal Pain
((( sherri)))
I have a similar sensation at times. I do have confirmed adenomyosis ( reason for hyst ) and have been told that along with uterine pain it can cause all other sorts of odd phenomenon. vaginal, rectal even pain down your legs. If they didn't find an issue during your colonoscopy I would suspect that is a good indication for the cause to be pelvic ( I would think that a rectocele would be seen during a colon/ bowel screening, but I am unsure ) Please call your gastric guy and ask ( of course the gastric always sends you to the gyn and the gyn sends you to the gastric... and around we go )
Feel better. I was up all night myself... yawn....

I also have these sensations and I have been diagnosed with adenomyosis. Supposedly, my doc says that the muscle of the uterus is being squeezed by the tissue that is migrating there and this will give all sorts of pains in the pelvic area. I am scheduled for my hys on the 18th and I cannot wait--my lower back and groin constantly throb.
Good luck!

Sharp, Stabbing Vaginal Pain
Thanks ladies. It seems adeno causes so many different symptoms. I just hope and pray my hysterectomy will alleviate all this pain. I comes at all different times. I may have one symptom today and totally different ones tomorrow. The only constant is the contraction like pains that alway arrive with "aunt flo".

Sharp, Stabbing Vaginal Pain
I had lots of quick sharp pains before my hyst. I had adenomyosis, and I don't know if that was the cause, but after my surgery the pains were gone
You should discuss your symptoms with your Dr. Maybe get those tests done to see if you might need some repair work done. Like you said, it would be better to get it done at the same time as they hyst. If the tests come back negative....then you don't have to worry about that anymore.
Best Wishes and ,

Well, here hoping and praying we all experience relief after our surgery. Everyone keeps mentioning "hip pain". Can anyone elaborate on that. When I think of hip pain I think of bones hurting and somehow I don't think that is what everyone is talking about. I have pain and a pulling sensation just above my thighs but I have never considered that hip pain.

I would say that mine is sometimes like pulling and aching--almost like I felt when I was pregnant and I felt like everything was stretching. I think that it is a little bit of everything down there not being quite right
I think that adenomyosis could give you sensations in lots of different areas of your pelvis since the uterus is a muscle and the tissue is interspersed (Sp?) throughout, according to my doctor anyway. Who really knows...I hope that after the surgery my doctor can diffinitively say that I have it and that this will take care of it. Once again--good luck!
