Bladder Sling Problems

In October 2005 I had a TVH and Bladder Sling. Everything went well until October 2006. I felt what seemed to be a surgical tape right on the inside of my vagina. I went for my pap smear and expressed my concerns. Sure enough, it was a surgical tape from the bladder sling. My doctor trimmed the tape and said it should retract under the skin. She said it was quite common. I've had it trimmed a couple of times and now it iritates my vagina. I also am noticing leaking of urine again. Has anybody else had this problem?

Ursa, have you mentioned th leaking to your doctor who trimmed the tape? It makes one wonder if the support for your urethra was compromised when the tape was cut? Is the leaking every day and does it happen during coughing, sneezing, etc.? Also, have you been checked lately for a UTI? There are many things that can cause leaking so be sure to get checked by your doctor ASAP. Sending a and hoping you get things cleared up soon.....
