Anyone with Urethra Stenosis?

Hi, I have urethra stenosis and IC. I had to have a hysterectomy(12-11-06) due to a tipped uterus with a fibroid pushing into my bladder..always felt like I had to pee. I had a cystoscopy in Oct. with dialation of the urethra..I don't think the dialation did squat for me, if anything my urine stream is slower and weaker. My gyn says I need the dialation again! I see the urologist in Feb. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?? I dread the cystoscopy again..uhg, painful and I felt like I was peeing gasoline for days!!!and sooo much blood! Anyone??

Anyone with Urethra Stenosis?

mitterpie, I see that no one here seems to have had experience with urethral stenosis. I looked it up on google and found a link that might be helpful to you. I do hope that you find some relief and informational for your situation. Sending S.....

Anyone with Urethra Stenosis?

Mitterpie, did you have ANY symptoms of a urethral stenosis...stricture..prior to dilation? I would GET a reason WHY before having another one. Once the utethra is "stretched"...enlarged...the rate of creating MORE strictures is high.
Weak, slow stream? have that before dilation? I've had both and what happened to me was the urthral dilation nightmare of the decade. Did your surgery "cause" urethral stricture? THAT is HARD to do,unless via catherization, during/after surgery, caused it.

Smile - Anyone with Urethra Stenosis? Urethra stenosis?

Hi, Denise. I'm here and back. My concerns were that you did not have any "signs" of the urethra having a stenosis - stricture prior to dilation. When you say your stream is slower and weaker....how long ago was the cysto & dilation? Did the uro discuss WITH you WHY dilation was done? Did he/she discuss that dilation can, often does, lead to "worse" strictures and dilation can be continued to be required to "keep" the passage open? When I say I had a nightmare uro situation, I did, and live with "aftermaths" now pushing 5 yrs. We women have small urethras embedded in the vagina's anterior wall. Were you given any instructions on the healing process? Slower/weaker...did you notice these "changes" immediately following dilation? When do you return for your 2nd appointment? I WOULD discuss, in depth, the reason WHY he/she wants you to have a 2nd dilation. I would want to know WHY one was done in the 1st place.
