Anyone feeling wiped out?

HI everyone,
Just wondering how the gals who had their surgery a few months ago are doing in the energy department? I had my surgery in Aug. 05, been back to work since Oct., and am still feeling totally whipped at the end of the day. I'm sleeping okay, but just don't have the energy I'd like too. Anyone else having this?

Anyone feeling wiped out?

I feel healthier, and yet I get tired. A co-worker just became homeless in the truest sence and I have taken her in and trying to get her assistance and getting treatment for burns sustained in a house fire where she rented a bedroom. Working, and keeping up with her needs has me done in. And I feel it in my incision believe it or not!

Anyone feeling wiped out?

You aren't alone. I can't seem to get my energy up either. I don't work outside the home. But most days I can't even get the energy up to do the things I like to do. I love cross stitch and I usually don't even feel like doing that. There are days where I can't sit still, too. But those days are few and far between. Unlike you though, I still can't get a good nights sleep without a sleeping pill. For me, I am hoping that estrogen will do the trick when I finally start taking it in March.

Anyone feeling wiped out?

I'm wiped out as well. I spent 4 weeks at home and went back to work on Jan. 2 -- I'm asking the doctor tomorrow if I can start exercising some. I'm planning on going to a friend's house on the Florida beach this weekend. Hopefully I will get revived!

Speaking of getting a good night's sleep - I take melatonin and I sleep so well with that. I try to get to bed around 9 - 9:30 each night -- since I have to get up at 5 each morning.

I'll let you all know what the doc says about the energy level -- I have my 6 week check-up tomorrow and have plenty of questions to ask him.

Anyone feeling wiped out?

Yes, Yes, YES! I have a few good days here and there, but many days I am just plain exhausted. I work full time, but there have been some days I have had to work from home, just so I can lay down for a while. Thank goodness, I am in a job where I have a little flexibility with that. Most weekends I just lay around, when I used to clean house, run all the errands, take my daughter to the park, go out for the evening with my husband, etc. I miss my life - I want to be back to my old self, NOW!!! (can you tell patience is not my strong point? )

Anyone feeling wiped out?

Energy? Yeah, I get the occasional spurt of that, but I'm sitting here on the computer instead of doing the dishes that need to be done-just don't have the energy today. My SIL went thru the surgery a year before me and told me that it took her a year to get her energy levels back. The tunnel is long, but there is a light at the end of it! And, unfortunately, the dishes won't run away, they'll still be waiting there for me tomorrow.
Honestly, tho, the energy has been ever so slowly increasing. I just go with the flow, take advantage of the good days, work when I have to, rest when I need to. Even at work I will sometimes just say "that's going to have to wait, I need to sit down for a few minutes" and I do it.
You know, even though we were told, I don't think we really realized just how much recovery this surgery requires. And, so, we expect more than we should of ourselves.

Anyone feeling wiped out?

Well I must say I am glad I am not alone. I have no energy. I work 5 hours a day and a lot of days when I can I come home and take a nap. When I wake up I am still tired. I sleep good at night. I just wish I had my energy back. At work they just don't understand. My surgery was July 13 so they don't even ask any more as to how I am feeling. They expect you to be back to normal by now.

Anyone feeling wiped out?

I hear you, Stoney. I work 40 hrs/wk with an hour commute each way. The job itself is pretty sedentary, but I am totally used up by the time I get home. But like most women, I run around doing laundry, cooking, cleaning etc and I end up getting a second wind which really screws up my sleep. I guess it is going to take a lot longer than any of us thought! Best to all...

Anyone feeling wiped out?

I am so glad I read this thread! I've been having a rough couple of days and just feel like I should be all better. It's always such a surprise still and it's almost 5 months. Before my surgery so many women told me this surgery was nothing. I think they all had amnesia...and I can't wait till I get there!
I was told it would take 6-12 months to feel back to my old self by my doctor. I just laughed inside....not me....I'll be better in no time. Wrong! I'm so glad to be able to come here and find out I am not the only one lacking energy. I still get sore if I do too much too.
Blessings to all......thanks for sharing!

Not alone

Hi,
You are so not alone! I can totally relate to everyone around thinking everything should be normal and hunky dory by now. Fatigue is still a major problem. I've been back at work since November and some days have a hard time sticking it out all day.
I was just thinking yesterday that I don't think I gave myself enough time to "recuperate," and rest. Pace yourself better! Rest when you have to. And apparently a lot of old timers are still having this problem.
