Switching from vivelle dot to Estratest

Hi All: I had my hyster. 8 weeks ago, and have been feeling a little low. I was on the vivelle dot, so they are switching me to Estratest. Any information on your experience with Estratest would be much appreciated. I have not had the side effect of weight gain or hair loss, or acne with vivelle dot, and am concerned about this with Estratest. My dr. has assured me that it is such a low dose of testertone in Estratest, that it shouldnt cause those side effects. Please tell me that you have had good experiences with this drug.

Switching from vivelle dot to Estratest

HI I had a TAH-BSO 31\2 months ago. I started taking estratest 1 month ago. I am taking them for hot flashes and low sex drive. My doctor assured me I wasnt going to grow a beard or lose my hair or gain weight.
I lost 14 lbs after my surgery. I have gained 6 back .but I am not sure if its because of the estratest or the holidays. Now I am back on my healthy eating routine so time will tell.
Because I am weary of taking hormones I am only taking it 1 every other day. LOL. I am feeling more and more like my self .So I guess they are working. I havent had any side effects as of yet.
Please let me know if u have any. It really is kinda scary, u want to trust ur doctor but then you read so many bad things. So who knows .

Switching from vivelle dot to Estratest

I switched from Vivelle Dot to Estratest HS almost three weeks ago. I was having a lot of brain fog and fatigue on the Dot but now both of those problems have improved greatly. One thing I have noticed is I am quicker to get anger or rather I have a much shorter fuse on this. With each day I do notice that is getting better so maybe it will level out with time.

I have noticed my face breaking out a little and I'm having trouble losing the few pounds I gained over the holidays. My appetite is up too but probably from the increased energy level and more exercising. I had hoped for an increase in libido but so far nothing.

Since I started Estratest I have to say I feel more like my old self than I have since the surgery in Sept.

Estratest did make me feel better but too aggressive. I switched to testosterone cream and estrace. I notice I have less energy. I hope it works for you.

Switching from vivelle dot to Estratest

I switched from Vivelle Dot to Estratest and did not care for it. Instead, I went back on the Vivelle Dot and added in a bio-identical compounded testosterone cream 2%. I found that I did not like the form of estrogen in the Estratest (it is Premarin), it made me feel anxious and racey and the testosterone did not help my libido that much. That said, I know that some women love it and do great on it. I would think that it would be worth a try, but if it does not do the trick for you, please know that there are other options out there. A lot of us are on the estrogen patches and the bio-identical compounded testosterone creams. They are harder to come by, harder to talk doctors in to (because they know lesss about them, hence, I got Estratest too), but probably a good choice for a lot, but not all, women. Good luck to you!

The estrogen in Estratest is made from plants. It is not the same as Premarin.

From Survivors Guide to Surgical Menopause...

"We still occasionally hear of the misconception that this drug contains Premarin, which is partially explained by listings online that group this with Premarin but mostly because some years ago, there was a combined product marketed. But Estratest (and its generics, such as Syntest) does indeed contain only esterified estrogens, not conjugated equine estrogens as in Premarin. Esterified estrogens are synthesized from wild yams and soy, and deliver primarily (synthetic) estrone, the weak estrogen found at highest levels after natural menopause. "
