Wondering about pain at top of pubic bone area

I've been having off and on internal pain located about where the pubic line ends and the abdomen starts. If I were to guess, it would be at the top of my vagina.

It isn't constant, so I'm not taking pain meds for it. It sort of comes and goes, but when it comes- it's pretty intense for about 20 minutes.

Any one else have this, or know what it might be? Since it's not constant, and I'm not bleeding, I don't want to bug my doctor about it. I'm just being curious george.

Well, I am over 6 years post op and can still have pain there! I did have a lap/hysteroscopy/D&C prior to my lap and one of the procedures required an incision in that area. Thus, I have chalked my pain up to adhesions and scar tissue. I have mentioned it to my GYN a few times, and he agrees.

If you are concerned about any pains while recovery, especially new pain, you should talk to your doctor.

Best wishes to you!

Hey there, gadgetgeek Any chance it could be your bladder? I remember if I let my bladder get full I would have pain (a sharp ache above the public bone) that would last quite awhile. It helped if I went more frequently and didn't let my bladder get very distended. Another guess... prob. if the pain is a little deeper, is maybe the sutures of the vaginal cuff are dissolving and you are tender from things settling in? You've been through a lot, so some pain is normal, but like (((Weiser))) mentioned, talk to your doctor if it's troublesome.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have that pain, too on both sides right above my pubic bone. In fact, I can't comfortably let my legs spread when I'm laying on the couch because of the pain there. I don't think it's my bladder because I haven't had any problems with my bladder since the surgery and the pain doesn't increase when I have to void. The pain there also increases when I walk or stand too much. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my vaginal cuff.

I have my four week appt. tomorrow and I'm going to ask my doc about it. I'll let you know what he says.

I originally thought that, because I had bladder spasms in the beginning, but I've noticed that the pain doesn't coincide with any bladder 'activity' (or lack thereof! tee hee)

It's more a curiosity than anything else and I'm not very worried about it, since I'm not bleeding or running any fevers. My original thought is that maybe the nerves are waking up.

You know, that is the only commonality I've had with the pain. If I've been on my feet for a while, then it starts up.

I'm going to have to look up "vaginal cuff" and see what that is. Gheesh- I thought I knew enough to do my own hysterectomy by now!

I have this too. I thought about going to see my GP. But when I get up the next morning it is gone. I can go for days with no problems. Then some days it will be on and off all day. Sometimes I will notice that it starts after I eat, but not always. Sometimes it starts after a BM, but mostly not. I'm not sure what it is. But I am going to make a note of it and if it keeps happening I will mention it to the GYN when I see him in mid March.
