hyst scheduled for 1-26-07

Less than 2 wks left before my supracervical hyst-I'm nervous. I have been told for past 10 yrs that I would eventually need a hyst due to stage IV endometriosis (my bladder and colon have the disease too). Drs are concerned about the damage done to my other organs-and any problems this may cause in the future. There will be a colo-rectal surgeon on hand in case part of the colon has to be removed as well. I'm 41 and done having kids (I have 4 yr old twins), but I'm really worried about the outcome of this surgery i.e. menopause, depression and especially weight gain. I just came off 4 yrs on Paxil and am starting to lose weight and feel somewhat normal-I don't want to be fat again! Has anyone had anything even remotely similar to my situation? Help!

Hi

I am sorry you are dealing with these concerns, and I have not had your experience. I have done a Search and located a thread that has some informations about endometriosis, and others who have had the surgery for it.

I hope this helps some. Maybe someone will come along more recent who can reply about it.

Thank you so much for your reply. I read thru the postings and it's nice to hear that I'm not alone in my struggles with endo. I have a lot of ?'s for my doc as my pre-op is tomorrow. Thanks again for caring!
