Morning Fran... and all who pop in today

I'm feeling much better than I did yesterday... I'm fighting something yucky, but I think I'm winning today

I'll definitely pack up my goodie bag to take with me to work for healthy choices:

B - kashi cereal w/ soy milk
S - banana
L - soup with an apple & orange
S - yogurt
D - probably left over chili w/ cheese

And, in spite of the weather... I'll definitely get out again today for a walk. Looks like I'll finally get to wear some of the winter clothes I got for Christmas. Just when I thought I'd have to return everything...

PJ... forgot to say congrats on the weight loss. Also, my eating yesterday definitely falls under "stress". Rarely do I have potato chips -- but the salt was too attractive.

Desk... glad your fur baby is feeling better!! Hope yesterday was special for DH LT.

Ok... ready to get a new day started -- so much possibility -- let's make it a good one!

Good Morning Everyone! I'm up earlier than I had planned to be. My alarm was set for 90 minutes from now. But we went to bed a bit early because DH needed to get up really early. But he kept hitting his snooze alarm, so by the time he left for work, I was pretty much wide awake. So here I am.

I'm eating my OP breakfast as I type. Today is a bit of clearing of frozen white crystals off my driveway. (Melissa..does it sound better that way, instead of using that *s* word ). I think about 2 inches. Then off to Curves. Then home to put a coat of paint above the tub/shower area in the bathroom. The Bathfitter guys come on Thursday morning so I need to get that done.

I'll probably walk while I'm out this morning, then that is done. It's a nice and peaceful here, just after the school buses run, so I think I'll go then.

PJ...Do you really think we'd tell them no? I'm thinking that might really be hard to do.

Hi Fran and Sue! You two always have your menus planned out so well. I can't even decide to eat out, figure out completely what I'll have when I get there so I can stay OP, then follow through with it. I always end up with something not so OP once the order comes out of my mouth.

Ok..I need to get this day started.
Have a BEST OP day!

American Idol starts tonight. I love the first shows. They are the best, especially for a good laugh. And laughter is good for us. So it's healthy to watch Idol tonight.

Morning gang!
Today is my new day, by golly I'm gonna get on the bandwagon with the rest of you. I stopped at the grocery store this morning and picked up some coffee yogurts that have always been satisfying in the past. I like to stir dry oatmeal into them, and it puffs up and "cooks" as the day wears on. That way I manage to make it last.

So for breakfast I had a handful of dry oatmeal and 12 oz water. Am drinking a coffee that has whole milk and 60 calories worth of sugar. The yogurts are lowfat, and I have some non-fat ones to mix in. My goal is to have a yogurt when I am tempted to have and see how that works. Since I will eat unlimited amounts of chocolate, far exceeding recommended dosages, the yogurt can't hurt!

I've packed a lunch of Romaine with fresh Romano cheese crumbles, and maybe I'll open a packet of 3 oz tuna to add to it. Dressing is always lightly applied, but tuna requires mayo IMO so we'll see what happens. This evening I'll have a pomegranate and maybe milk. I know I'm short on veggies and fruit, but I'm just starting to eliminate the really bad stuff, then I can incorporate the good stuff. Fortunately I do love the good stuff, too, so that part should be easy. But getting rid of the baddies...

Fran, I'm using your yoghurt example, and as far as I can tell it's probiotic as it has Lactobacillus Acidophilus. What a scholar I am, eh?? It was so nice to hear that your Dad and Stepmum complimented you on your weight loss.

Sue, I hope you feel better soon and you win the fight against whatever yucky ick you are up against! I have a bag of zinc lozenges that I'd be happy to send you if you feel the need. I purchased some last week and took one during my thin people's meeting but so let me know if you want them (BEG). Thanks for the bd greetings for LT, he did feel like he celebrated appropriately and was satisfied.

Nancy, we may have a few flakes today but I'm not holding my breath. Enjoy your shoveling and the early morning. I hear you on the ordering, I start with all good intentions and then blow it completely then put it off until tomorrow. Well no more because tomorrow has arrived!

:snort:
So far so good.

Have a great day, stay safe and healthy, my BEST friends!

Desk..Have you tried the yoplait chocolate yogurts. They are the whipped ones. I was very skeptical, but found the raspberry chocolate one to be a very lovely treat. Better than chocolate ice cream or chocolate candy, that's for sure. There are several varieties.

Morning BESTers

The is on the way as temps have dropped below our low of yesterday. Confused? Me too, I thought surely we were having an early spring. Cloudy and looks like rain, but maybe we'll get a flurry or two of those "things".

Bkft was oatmeal w/raisins and hot tea -my usual
Lunch and dinner ideas are up in the air at the moment.

I plan to get dressed (don't ask -involves squirrels) then make calls and do paperwork this morning. I'm sure DH will decided what I must do with the rest of my day. My kingdom for him going back to day shift......but then I'd have to give up my watching what I like on t.v. in the evenings. It's a no win situation. Anyone want a "lightly used much abused overweight over fifty man with all his own teeth and a full head of hair"?

I'll check in later - sounds like the ladies of BEST are off to a good start today. Desk - Try the new Dannon 60 cal yogurts. You might like them. Oatmeal in yogurt, humm. Interesting, I think.
Noooo Nancy - clearing white crystals off the driveway doesn't appeal to me either - unless they were white diamonds or something - I'd be there in a flash to help you! Sue & Fran - you both are too organized for words. I think I need help in that department.

Good morning ladies! You guys crack me up!

I had a fairly good OP day yesterday and plan on one today. I also have a visit to Curves planned for this evening. I hope to improve on my water intake as well. This is the time of the year that I hate...........too cold, too dark and too long. At least I have the planning of my DD's baby shower to keep me busy and pass the time.

Nancy, I "love'" Idol!

Melissa, can I just have the hair part of your DH?

Desk, I just love your food combos!

Hi Friends, I'm in a class where they are testing students. There hasnt been hardly anyone here, so I thought I would check in. I'm trying to get into a routine and get used to working. The last time I worked away from home was 1989. I am enjoying it. I work in the library, but since I am a parapro, I assist with the testing. Food is okay. I'm frustrated by not being able to work out like i'd like. DH says no $ for a club membership right now. SO it's try and find time for at the church or do something here at home. It's bad to get out of your schedule. I feel like a slug! My stomach has been giving me fits for a few weeks and I was sick over the weekend. I've been up every night with a terrible cough. So that's my story! Just trying to eat the best that I can. Today has been whole wheat bagel w/PB, strawberries. Snack: WW pretzels. L: lean cuisine and maybe a WW ice cream? D: chicken and some veggies. Well I need to run. Everyone sounds great! Keep up the good work. Sharon

I'm back, things have been very busy so I feel I deserve to check in at lunchtime (I intend to use all the porcine smilies until I lose some weight)

Nancy and Melissa, thanks for the suggestions. I did try the whipped ones some weeks/months ago and I d them. Couldn't get enough of them, so I want to stick with things that I know work for me, for now. If it means that I eat the same thing day in and day out for 6 months, so be it. But that will never happen in the evenings at my parents since they like variety, so I have nothing to worry about. Also, I'm trying to keep away from the sweeter flavors as I have no control once I start them. And I hate, I mean really hate the taste of Splenda, so I'd rather just cut down on, perhaps eventually cut out, the sweet treats that are not real chocolate. I did purchase a Stoneyfield Farm Chocolate Underground which I have tasted in the past and it's very good, but I'm saving that for a nighttime dessert to see how I sleep on it.

Emily, I saw in the yogurt section that they are now offering Yogurt and Cereal combinations! See, I'm way ahead of my time! I almost purchased some but then decided that, as I said before, I'd stick with the ones that I have had success with, for starters, anyway. I'm not strong enough to try anything new just now. Start small, expand horizons later is my current mantra.

Sharon, I'm sorry you are having stomach stuff. That's no fun and it just wears you out. I can sure relate to the exercise dilemma. My membership in the gym is ongoing, but I have not been there in months. Many months... I can't quit because I signed a contract, and that's just as well. It's not a wise financial move, but I've done it, so there we are.

Melissa, wait a minute, who has time to watch television?

My salad was very and I opened a pack of ginger and soy marinated tuna steak, 170 calories, and am just eating it straight without heating it or adding anything to it. I'm sure it is great heated, it's very tasty right out of the foil pack, and seems more substantial than when it's chopped and mixed with mayo. I've done okay today so far. Had one yogurt and a handful of oats that got me started for the morning. I might have a ff blackberry yogurt for dessert, but I suspect I'll want one of my coffee yogurts later. A little bit of fat really helps to fill the space in the mind's belly!

We can do it, we can, get right back on that horse, right?

Good afternoon all,
Good start with oatmeal this a.m.
Busy morning with a funeral/ helping with the after-funeral meal and all. Then stopped with friends for lunch - salad and pecan chicken over rice. So far OP for the day and have had quite a bit of my water. Might even get more than the basic amount in today.
Sounds like most of the group is getting motivated...for those trying to lose: we CAN do this! Even a half pound a week is over 25 pounds in a year...
Off to do more organizing in the office today...don't like to do the basement part until the SiL is at work (They're on the other side). Have ladies Bible study tonight...dealing with "healing of emotions"...and I'm finding some I didn't know I had!
Have a great day.
