Dry eyes

I am only 3 weeks out from my surgery but the last week my eyes have been dry and burning a little. Once the ices melts I am going to venture to the pharmacy and pick up some eye drops and see if that helps. I was told by another sister that you should not use them to much or your tear ducts will shut down. Have you called an eye doctor or your GP. I plan on calling tomorrow.

Dry eyes

Hi Kipper56
Welcome to Hystersisters! I had dry eyes for a while, but it was earlier on in my recovery than what you have experienced. I remember at the time thinking that it could be hormone related. I did go on some hrt not too long after that happened so I felt it was the answer for me. Does your dr have ideas about what could be causing it?

It would help us help you if you could fill in your surgery information in your profile so we know if you have your ovaries or not. It makes a big difference in figuring out what might be causing something like this.

Hopefully there will be some others who can share their experiences with you too.

Dry eyes

Hi,

I started getting dry eye in my 40's, years before my hyst at 53 when my hormones were starting to change. It is not uncommon to get dry eye as we age.

My eye dr has helped me by putting in plugs for the tear ducts, so moisture I do have stays in. I love this, and I can even wear my contacts. I sometimes use Refresh moisture drops when weather is drying from too much heat in the home or wind outside.

Here is some information on it:
