Feb 12 the big day Need help coping.

I am schedule for surgery on Feb 12 and I am very nervous. I think about it all day and I am trying to get ready for the big day. I am reading alot from Hystersister and it is comforting to know that I am not alone. I just wish the day will arrive so I can look forward to the pampering and rest I well do deserve. How am I suppose to survive all this waiting??

Bronxgal21,
I to am nervous, mine is scheduled on 1-29-07 which also happens to be my 40th birthday!!!! I have just been trying to keep myself busy. Cooking some meals ahead, getting my house clean and I have started about 10 different craft projects that I can work on from "MY THRONE" while recouperating.

welcome! You will find much comfort here from all the Sisters! You will be told that the waiting is the hardest part, and it is so true! I waited over 4 weeks from when I saw the Dr and got his first available surgical date to the trip to the castle. I survived by keeping myself busy at home, cleaning, and preparing. Also DH and I took a trip at the beginning of Dec to get away from everything and everyone. I read so many postings on this website, both from pre-op and post-op, so I could be prepared for the before, during and after. I also started journaling on this website. I have found it to be very therapeutic.

Be at peace knowing you will feel better after and that the Sisters are here for you!

Hi There:
Waiting was definately the hardest part. Silly things run through your mind. I cleaned every drawer and closet, prepared alot of meals for the guys (hubby and 3 boys), only to find they mostly ordered out and now 6 weeks later the freezer is still packed!
It will come and it will go and you will be fine and so greatful afterwards. Try to keep positive and positive will surround you!
Best to you
Lauri

Waiting is the hardest part. I am one month post surgury. I am now feeling like myself. I feel great except for hot flashes. Just keep busy with cleaning the house and anything you want done while you are down. I learned the hard way and thought I could do alittle three weeks aftersurgury. Do not do it if you how to think "Should I do this" Good Luck

bronxgal21 we share the same date! Just read and read and read some more on this site. it is my main support system right now. I just bought some drawstring Pj's for the castle and I am making a list of question for my pre-op wich is Feb 6th. I am also making a list of things to get done before my surgery, and things I want in my "Chamber" LOL when I get home. This helps the time go by, and makes you feel like you are moving forward. We can support each other, lol

I agree that waiting is the hardest part. Let me be the one to tell you that my experience wasn't bad at all. I was prepared for much worse. I felt great after only 5 days and am currently getting ready to go back to work on Monday. I was up and walking in the evening of my surgery. I do feel this helped my body wake up. I pray that your recovery will be as great as mine. Just take is slow and easy and get pampered!

God Bless
Susan

My date is the day after yours.. so I decided to start making my list! What do I need to have for the hospital, what do I need to stock up on since I won't be able to shop for a while (YIKES).. and it's only me and the girls!

List seem to help keep me busy.. I am also going to clean my carpets thoroughly. I know it will drive me insane to sit and see the dirt and not do anything about it! lol
