Courage......

Heh I feel like the Cowardly Lion from "The Wizard of Oz." I am going to be 28 in February. I have been having complications from endometriosis for about a year. The last doctor I saw tried to supress the symptoms with hormones but it's not working. As soon as I am able I will have a hysterectomy.
I fight hard not to be sorry for myself. Every day I turn on the TV to the news & see how many people have it worse than I do....My life was wonderful before I got sick & I'm determined to get back to that.
My big regret is that my mom never told me she had a hysterectomy because of endometriosis about two decades ago. I wish she had talked to me so I could have been prepared. But I'm getting over that. It was certainly not the worst thing she did...I could be madder about it all...LOL..
Looking forward to knowing you all & looking forward to grabbing a big piece of my future with my teeth.

well for me the worse thing was the waiting. i was scared to but i knew i had to to it. i had tah on the 23 of feb in 2006 and the surgery was not bad i got along real well. i was out of the castle the next day the recovery went good but it took a long time to get my enegry back. the surgery takes a lot out of you after surgery the best thing to do is walk, walk, walk that helped more than anything. rest and take naps.since my surgery i have felt better than i had in a long time, i don`t regret any of it the only thing i wish i had done it sooner.

I think the waiting is the worst part. Surgery isn 't too bad, they control any pain with meds. The worst is about a week or two out when the internal numbness wears off. It's not "painful" just weird as you get more feeling back.

It does take time to get your energy back so please be PATIENT with yourself!

AWWH Maxine,
Don't be too hard on yourself. I think that many of us here have felt that "cowardly lion" feeling you so well expressed. Endo does some really terrible things to our bodies. I'm glad you've found this site because you'll find sisters who will encourage you and pick you up when you need it here. I remember all those treatments for endo before my hyst, it puts your hormones and everything else out of whack & causes you to feel so emotional at times. So, don't tear yourself down, just take it day by day! Wanting to send you lots and lots of hugs and support! Take good care and let us know how you are doing.
