Do you find that sitting for long periods of time can be painful?

I am just 6 weeks post op TAH. I find that recent long car trips (say 3 - 4 hours) trigger lingering pain. I am wondering about the fact that I head back to work next week - as a paralegal, I spend most of the day sitting at a computer. Any input? I guess I'll plan on getting up and walking around the office as much as possible...

Yes... pretty normal. Now the thing about work vs. a car trip is you can stand up say every 20-30 minutes for even a minute and then go back to work (try stretching up when you do and also gently side to side). My stomach still gets stiff if I sit for hours on end... but it loosens up quickly.

Do you find that sitting for long periods of time can be painful?

Hi DoublyBlessed,

I also noticed pain when sitting for several months after surgery. I took a pillow stashed inside a big plastic bag so I'd have something to sit on at school besides the hard chairs they have there. Nobody really asked about it (which was nice! ) and for some reason sitting on the pillow really did help. I also would take very quick breaks (1-2 minutes) to walk around and that seemed to help, too.

I hope you find a solution that works for you! Remember your doctor might also have some good suggestions for you, too.

I'm working longer days now and my tummy starts hurting. it hurts now actually, after 6-7 hours at work. It's almost like it's tired... But I have noticed that as the days go by I can sit a little longer before it starts hurting...

I get pain when I sit up to long on a hard chair. I went to church yesterday for the first time since my surgery and I felt sore afterwards. It was good to see some friends and worship with my church but next week I will take a pillow. I went to work for two hours on Sat. and stood up to sort papers. I work mostly at the computer too. I was sore after that two hours! I needed a nap!
I hope you can take a break or do a few 1/2 days
Jo
