Good morning I am 13 days postop LAVH w/BSO today. Ihave been feeling good. The first week home I walked laps around the house. Then at my one week appt the doctor okayed me to walk on my treadmill so I've been do that once a day every day since last Friday. Yesterday I did 40 minutes/1.75miles. I know it's slow, but she told me to go slow the first week on the treadmill, and then I could pick the pace up. And she said that I could start walking the halls in the school with my friend at night. My best friend had breast cancer, went through 2 rounds of chemo and radiation. Has gained alot of weight. I always exercise, teach aerobics. Taught a step class the day before surgery. She wanted to walk at the school, so I said I'd go with her in the evenings. I took a daily nap the first week postop because I did tire easily. I had gas pains, and had my first BM day 6 postop. I did have alot of vaginal discomfort from the stitches, but that seems to be getting better. The doctor says they will fall out week #3. I plan on getting on my treadmill this morning again, and then tonight going to the school to walk the halls with my friend. This weekend I'm gonna get out the dumbbells and do light weights for upper body. My doctor won't release me back to the gym until after my 6 week postop appt. She said all I need to do is walk. No jumping, bouncing. It's freezing cold, snowy and windy here in upstate NY. I wish I could get outside and walk like some of you are able to. My son is in Arizona so my husband and I might go there my 5th week postop, and get back in time my 6 week appt. At least when I'm there I could walk outside in some nice weather. I stopped taking my lortab and bedtime 3 nights ago. And I stopped the ibuprofen daily 2 days ago. I take a stool softner and calcium supplement in the morning, and calcium supplement in the evening. I had my cervix, uterus, tubes and ovaries removed. Glad to hear that everyone is doing good. Remember to listen to your bodies. Everyones recovery is different. But as I've learned on here we only have this one time to recover so remember to "Pamper the princess."

Well, I went back to primary care yesterday for staple removal yesterday and its great to have them gone. Still having a little bleeding from the incision and it is gaping in a couple of spots. I find information on getting up and down, itc. to be a bit excessive in my case, as I feel little to no pulling or pain in using some of my stomach muscles at this point and, in fact, feel like I could be doing sit ups, etc. but I won't push that yet.

The weather is nicer here now,so I am going to start walking today. They said no biking as yet, and no riding a rough feed truck over pastures yet and for sure no riding horses yet.

I will go back to gyn-onc. in two and a half weeks, so maybe I'll be released for more then.

Hope everybody is on track and healing fast.

Onehundredlady,
Glad to hear you're doing so good. It must be the day of surgery 1/25/07 I bet it is great to have the abdominal staples gone. I don't have those since I had a LAVH w/ BSO but I have vaginal stitches which are uncomfortable. But the doctor said they'll fall out week 3 postop, so hopefully that discomfort will be gone then. No, I wouldn't push the situps. Wait until your doctor says thats okay. Remember we're only 13 days postop, and time goes by fast, so before you know it we'll be back to our normal routines. Have a good day. Yvonne

Hi All,

I've had some little twinges here and there but otherwise feel pretty good. I am still taking the percocet and motrin every 8-10 hours. I am able to get out of bed great and I'm doing some walking. My husband is so overprotective and doesn't want me walking alot. I have to ride the "buggies" when we go out shopping LOL The bowels are still trying to get right. And I'm sure its because of the pain meds. I get tired out really fast which is really frustrating since I don't like to lay around.

Take it easy

VRS...you'll get used to they lying around part.
I do get tired of reading and watching that stupid tv. I started knitting a scarf yesterday, and am hoping to get into to the mood to do some scrapbooking.
My hardest part is eating. Man! I've been craving the sweets. I think its the boredom thing. So, am going to go hour by hour and try to stay away from stuff that's not good for me. Sigh. I also vowed to keep my water jug right next to me. Where is that stupid thing?

Tee-hee Kitelizard...
I agree with you about keeping track of that water jug, and I too find that the sweets are calling my name. I had to move the brownies out of sight because every time I went to refill my jug they were calling my name.
I have been lucky keeping boredom at bay, since I am taking some college classes online and my schoolwork helps to occupy my time. It was however difficult taking a test 3 days post-op when I was still suffering from major brain-fog and looking at the computer monitor made me dizzy. Otherwise, recovery has been a breeze when I have been able to pass gas (sorry, couldn't resist the pun). I think this is the only time in my life that I have felt good about being able to let out a toot! Now I am rambling.....
Have a great day and happy healing!
Heidi

Hello all! I'm 13 days postop today, and feeling good. I just hope it continues. I just did 47 minutes, 2.4 miles on my treadmill. Slower than normal, but the doctor said to take it slow, and build back up slowly. I' ve seen some ladies say they they felt worse 3-5 weeks postop, so I hope that doesn't happen. I hope I continue in the forward motion. Everyone have a nice day. Hope your pain is tolerable, and your energy level is increasing.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one getting cabin fever! Here on Long Island, the high has only been about 20 degree's since Sunday. I've been doing alot of laps down the hall of my apartment. At least I'm trying to get my walks in. I had my staples removed a week ago, and I'm hoping that when I go to the doctor's tomorrow, I'll be released for driving, then I can drive to the local mall & get my walking in there.
Hope all is going well with everybody!!!!
