Hi mzpitt...i am having surgery the same day as you and my dr didnt tell me not to eat...i will eat what i want...just not too much of anything...dont really feel like eating anyways...kinda nervous! and i also didnt have to do the dreaded bowel prep!!! Good luck and i will be thinking of you!

I had to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 days before surgery and do the bowel prep. Im glad now that I was. I was completely empty going into surgery and didnt have any bowel issues after. I guzzled apple juice, powerade (the low sugar nutrient added kind), chicken broth, banana popsicles and so much jello that I never want to see it again. I made jello jigglers, They are so firm that it makes you feel like you are at least chewing on something. It helped that my DH worked both those days and I told him to grab a burger on his way home from work so I didnt have to smell real food. It really wasnt as bad as I thought it would be plus you will be so busy doing last minute cleaning and laundry that the time flies. An extra bonus is weight loss. I arrived at the castle 6lbs lighter! Good luck!
