Is a low grade fever post-op normal?

Hi all,

I am two days post surgery and seem to be running a low grade fever - hovering between 99.6 and about 100.2. The doc gave me Percocet, which makes me nauseous, so I'm taking the 800 mg Motrin he gave me, and I don't have a lot of pain anyway. Just this annoying fever! Was wondering if anyone else has/had this. I am taking it very easy, have spent most of the day napping on the couch. Thanks in adance for your answers. SkierGRL

Call your doc

For one thing, the motrin is hiding some of the fever - my limit was 100 - anything over and I was to call.

Is a low grade fever post-op normal?

I ran a low grade fever like yours for 4 weeks. She thought some of my problem came from a couple of staples that didn't dissolve, so she removed them. But after being 6 weeks post-op and I know this sounds wierd and I wouldn't necessarily rate it a "hot flash", but to the minute everyday around 2pm, my face will become very warm and last that way for a couple of hours. Don't know what that means!
Best of luck to you and I know my orders were anything over 102 call the doc!
Wishing a speedy recovery!

Thanks!

Thanks fellow Princesses! I will call my doctor in the morning. I don't think it's bad enough to call the ER for. I will chill for the rest of the night and call him tomorrow, that is good advice! SkierGRL

It is normal, your body is trying to regulate itself. My ceiling was 100.4 anything higher I was to call the doc. This low grade fever almost kept me from being released. Mines hovered in the 99's but only for a few hours at night, not all day.

I ran i low temp in the hospital. They put me on an anitibotic and gave me motrin. It got as high 100.6. Which is not that high anyway. The next day it was normal. Hope you feel better soon.
