Feb 15th, big day
Hi, As you can see I'm new here and getting more and more nervous the closer the day comes.
I'm 43 years old, and have been told I have fibroids. I learned this 4 years ago. Dr. just kind of went well you have a fibroid tumor and need a hysterectomy, next paiteint please. I was scared and just pushed it off and refused to deal with it. At the time I was told it was the size of a 24 week pregnacy, I also recieved 3 pints of blood. Even though i bled for almost 2 years nonstop, I ignored it. Recently friends at work pretty much nagged me till I went back to Dr. I was told I was severly anemic again and was give 4 pints of blood. And now my fibroid is about 26 weeks.
So I went to the library and got online and studied. Well i've made my choices and now I'm stressing and nervous as I wait.
I really could use any advice, support, you name it right now. My mothers gone so feeling in major need of some female support. As well as info on what to exspect in the coming weeks of recovery.

Hi. I know you will get lots of support from this site. I am scheduled for my hysterectomy on Feb. 7th. As of now I am keeping my ovaries and cervix. With the amount of bleeding you have been doing and the anemia it sounds like you really need to do this. I have known I have fibroids for years. I have a total of 6, one is the size of a grapefruit and two are the sizes of oranges. My periods have gotten worse and worse and I am also anemic but have not needed any transfusions. After talking to my doctors my husband and I agreed it is time to do something about it. I know one or two people who have had hysterectomies already and they say it is the best thing they have ever done. My doctors have also said every patient they have that has done it has said afterwards they wished they had done it sooner. I am terrified of the surgery but think this is the right thing to do. My mon is also gone. Wishing you the best and good luck with your surgery.

Hi. At they have been able to tell is I have 1 very large, Doc says about the size of a football. Ultrasound showed it as being 12cm x 14cm x 13cm. But Doc says if I have 1 there is usually more. At this point I'm scheduled to keep only the cervex. But still unsure on ovaries. Doc says he recomends taking over 40 and that there is 10-15% chance I would end up having to go back later to have them removed. Also I have one person going I'm glad I had them removed and someone else going I wish I hadn't. So just keep digging for info and thinking about it.
Good luck with your Op I'll be hear if you want to talk

I'm not sure on my Doc's age but from his looks he is probly around my age, but on the good side I just looked he graduated 27 years ago. So I have to agree that's sounds much less nerve racking then your situation.
So I guess we can keep each other company and compare stories as we heal....lol

I remember when I met him, he said "so your 33 your the same age as me" I was like Oh Great can you go get your daddy then. Come to find out his dad and his uncle both work with him at the practice, ROFL. I told him if he messed anything up I would so ground him, and he just laughed, I told him I wasn't playing and he laughed harder. Brat. LOL
