6 days postop

Hello all This site is wonderful. I wish I had found it preop. Oh well, better late than never. I just gave this website address to friend whose sister is dealing with fibroids and considering having a hysterectomy. I finally had a BM yesterday morning day 5 postop. Then I had another one last night. And this morning I had a BM. Yes I'm happy cuz the gas pains are so much better now. Now if this swelly belly would disappear that'd be great. How long has everyone been finding that it takes for it to go away. My abdomen is still tender. Smaller and softer in the morning, but as the day goes on it gets firmer and larger. I want it gone! Did anyone else gain weight preop due to their fibroids. I had alot of nausea, frontal headaches, anemia, tired, and abdominal bloating. I had gained 20 plus pounds. It was terrible. My one friend told me that she had gained weight and it was due to her fibroids, and once they were gone she started losing weight. I am active. I exercise at least 5 days a week. I teach aerobics. I have a job where I am on my feet all day and walk around alot. Thats why the weight gain was so irritating to me. I'm hoping that now things go back to normal. Time will tell. Thanks for everyones help, support and knowledge.

I'm 9 weeks today and still get swelly belly
It's not nearly as bad as it was, and is now more related to what I do through the day then anything.

Haha --- Many women report months of the swelly belly! This surgery does teach us patience
