Not while I was in the hospital, but constantly for the first ten days home. I definitely consider my heating pad as on of the critical components of my recovery. I suggest that everyone have one available.
Yes!!! I was able to use to the one at the hospital. Although it was not as good as the one that I have had at home; it was a life saver. The one at my hospital used heated water. It was more like a "warm" pad, but it really helped. I had a TVH, but I kept it on my stomach for the "cramping". The motrin 800 and that pad was the only thing I used for pain. I did not have the pump. It was nice to get home and use one that really heated up. Best of luck with your upcoming surgery.
I used one in the hospital but with the intense hot flashes that I was feeling I kept taking it off. I think it was way to hot to use. I like my rice bag that I use at home. I haven't however used my rice bag since the Novemeber sometime. If I use any source of heat on my body it brings on a hot flash. I was given one of those homemedics seatcovers that vibrate and heat. Its great. You can can the vibration and control the heat to shut it off if it becomes too intense.
