Lactating - What the heck?!?!
OK, ladies- here's a doozy for ya!
My TAH was on Oct. 5, 2006. I've been feeling pretty good - a bit of weirdness going on around the incision site due to heavier lifting at my new job, but other than that - I've been great!
I am having a difficult time trying to map my "cycle" now, since I kept my ovaries - and today the weirdest thing happened. My fiance has been noticing that my breasts seem "fuller" these past couple of days. Not a big deal, I figured it's just about time for my "cycle". Before jumping in the shower today, I noticed that I'm actually slightly lactating with BOTH breasts!
Anyone else heard of this? I've been very thorough and persistant with checking for breast lumps since I've already had 2 (benign). I have no lumps or anything out of the ordinary. My mom (also had a hyster years ago) says my hormones are just messed up. Ya think!?!!
Thanks, ladies.

I was just a little curious, did either of you breastfeed your children? I don't have any of this going on, but just was wondering if there was any similarity?

Then with my 2nd, I think he would still be there(he's 3 LOL) had I not broke him at 15 months! LOL...I was just HOPING there was NO relation to that I would REALLY be Losinf it!! I really hope you all stop! Like you don't have enough to deal with! I will say a special prayer for both of you tonight! HUGGGGSSS!

Lactating - What the heck?!?!
Have you spoke with your doctor? Often lactating is a sign that your hormones are out of balance. Talk to your doctor and find out what options are available for you!

Lactating - What the heck?!?!
This is by far one of the strangest things yet. I'm beginning to think anything can be a side effect from this surgery. Please let us know what you find out from the doctor. I'm sure it is hormones though!

Lactating - What the heck?!?!
Hi Ladies -
I have the same thing going on and have off and on for years. You need to have some blood work done by your dr. and a very thorough breast exam by him/her. Each episode of this happening to me we have run my TSH(thyroid) and a fasting morning prolactin level. If these are out of whack then there is your answer. Often times the reason is a small BENIGN tumor in your brain, very common. My dr. has found no reason for this; he did mention that he felt it had nothing to do with my hyster - in fact the first episode, I was leaking so bad it would soak my shirt, was before my dd was born. I did breast feed, however, we found no correlation to that. My research has found that marijuana smoking can also cause hyperlactemia (sp). All in all my Dr. said not to worry because my blood work is normal.
Have the blood work and go from there.
Good Luck and try not to worry - it is usually nothing!
