Anyone know how long it takes for hormones to leave system?

Just wondering...going to see a hormone specialist next week and I just started the .025 estradiol patch. I want to "empty" my system of hormones to have a fresh start...wondering if I should take the patch off now.

Hope,
Why do you want to empty your system of hormones? It stands to reason that your tests will most likely come out low. I think the wise thing to do is to keep doing what you're doing so that you can see how your body is absorbing what you're using.

On the other hand, I see you are still very early post op. IMHO testing at this point is a waste of time and money. Your body has stored reserves of hormones so your levels are probably still fluctuating, there is no way to empty yourself quickly of the stores, time and patience is what's needed. You can't rush recovery from having major surgery.

Estradiol Clearance

Hi Hope!

It takes less than 24 hours for estradiol to be cleared out after you remove a patch. I found that on the Vivelle-Dot web site. I looked on the Climara site, but didn't see it.

Without the patch, your levels will be low. To get an idea of what they'll be, here are the normal ranges for postmenopause, on HRT and premenopause from the University of Virginia medical labs.

----Estradiol---------------------Level (pg/ml)
follicular phase--------------- 21 - 251
mid-cycle----------------------- 38 - 649
luteal---------------------------- 21 - 312

postmenopausal--------------- 10 - 28
on HRT------------------------- 10 – 144

Maybe this helps? Later. :-)

I would think that if you had a TAH/BSO your gonna run out of the natural hormones very quickly. I know I did. It like to put my body into shock. I am currently not taking any hormones of any kind.
