Update on me

ladies

It's been awhile since I've posted an update, so I thought I'd let everyone know what's going on.

My CA125 has soared up to an all time high of 596 while on the carbo/avastin. My oncologist and gyn/onc consulted and agreed that I needed to give the "doubling dose" of avastin a little more time. My new CA125 has dropped to 435. Yeah! I hope this downward trend continues!

My best friend and I had a wonderful time on our cruise to the Virgin Islands. The weather was absolutley wonderful, and it was so good to get out of this dreadful cold. In addition, the captain of the cruise ship was kind enough to allow me to scatter part of my DH's ashes at sea at sunset. He would have approved of the choice.

Before Christmas I sprained my ankle. A month later it still hurt, so I went to an ortho doctor. He put a boot walking cast on for vacation and did a bone scan. Results show a fractured cuboid bone in my right foot, so I'm in a plaster cast from toes to below the knee. I've never had a cast before and am not very patient with the inconvienience of all of this. No driving is the worst! Oh well, I guess it can always be worse.

It's good to be back on the boards. I hope everyone is doing well and braving this cold weather. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress with the carbo/avastin. Hoping for low, low numbers real soon!

Update on me

Lori,
Back!
Glad to hear you had a nice time on your cruise and that was a great idea for your DH's ashes, glad the Captain went along with it! Keep up the good work on lowering that number! Stay warm and keep off your ankle as much as you can.

Update on me

Let's hope this Avastin, which has a good reputation, brings that CA125 down. What a shame about your foot--hope it heals as well as my elbow has. Hang in there--good news is coming.

Update on me

Hey nut! Happy to see an update on you!!

I pray the new meds continue to bring down the numbers. And how sweet of the captain...It sounds like you picked a lovely time. How much longer will the boot need to stay on?

Update on me

Lori,
I am so glad that your number is coming down!!

Your cruise sounds like it was fun as well as the personal reflection you had.

I hear you on the cast thing. 7 weeks on my arm and now a brace has really cramped my style, I can't imagine having the foot in a cast.

Here is praying that the number continues to drop.

So glad to hear those numbers are coming down! I'm also glad you had such a beautiful time on your cruise.

Here's hoping your numbers continue their downward spiral, and that you get that darn cast off soon!

Glad you're back!!!!

s Lori

I think our cruise ships may have passed one another. I was on the Western route while you were on the Eastern trek. Glad you had a good time.
As for Avastin..... I am glad they are keeping you on it.
Last night Phila NOCC had their annual CockTEAL party.
George Cukos MD PhD from PENN attended. He is still just singing the praises of avastin in combo.
Dr Cukos's trial for a recurrent ovca vaccine is about a year away. He feels a major new treatment is on the horizon, one that could make a huge difference. I can't tell you how much I believe in this man and how excited we Phila survivors feel after speaking with him.
I think of you often Lori. You are one amazing woman!!!

Hi, Lori, and glad you had such a nice cruise. Happy, too, that the avastin showed such great results! Let's keep moving in that direction!

Oh, I hope you get that cast off real soon. Such a bother!

Best,

Welcome back to the cold. We missed you. I am so glad your numbers are coming back down and I hope they go way low for you.

Great news Karenann. My doc in Hershey also says great things are on the horizon. I'm waiting on tippy toes to hear. Thanks for sharing.
