Question about recurrence

Good Evening Sisters!

I pray this finds you all in good spirits and counting your blessings. Always stay strong, hopeful, courageous and positive. No matter what is happening I always say there is someone else worse off, and that is so true. As long as I am still breathing, I am blessed by God.

Ok, on to my question. I had endometrial adenocarcinoma, stage 1b, grade 2. I needed no further treatment, but am left with bouts of cancer head. How exactly will I know if my cancer does recur? What symptoms should I watch out for, other than keeping up with CT scans etc.. Will I have just abdominal pain or what? I really do hate this cancer head you're left with once you have cancer, but I am staying strong and everytime cancer head shows up, I do something to distract the thought. I am strong and faithful in God that I will be ok, but am also just human with human emotions.

Thanks for your advice. I am truly happy to have you all here. Everytime I read your threads/replies I am so inspired by the courage you all show. God bless you all. You will get through...one day at a time!

Hugs

Question about recurrence

Hugs, SA.

I havent' recurred so I can't answer your questions from a first-hand experience. The best thing you can do is keep up with your follow up apppointments and pay attention to your body. Call your doc if you are unsure about anything, or if anything seems out of the ordinary for you. My gy/oncologist's office was great at getting me in to see the Nurse practitioner to answer my questions and relieve some anxiety when I was worried about something.

Good luck to you. Remember, you are stronger than any old cancerheaD!

Question about recurrence

Hi K9,

First I am so happy for you that you have NOT had any recurrence. That is great news. I pray that it continues.

Thanks for the words of advice. It was just one of those questions that popped in my head. I thought how do we really know when it as come back and what is the first symptom to watch for.

Hopefully, someone else with this experience can come along and answer this and educate us both.

I hope you're doing good and having a great day. You're right....WE BOTH are stronger than cancer head!!!!!!!! I do have to say one good thing that has come from my experience with cancer.........and that is it has made me stronger, and I stop and smell the roses much more now

Continued good luck to you

Question about recurrence

More often than not a recurrence would show up on your "vaginal cuff" and would cause bleeding. Any bleeding post cancer should be immediately reported to your gyn/onc. Good luck. anna

Question about recurrence

SA,

Hello, How are you doing? Are you being seen by your GYN/ONC or GYN every 3 month? I have been told to be seen for a pap every 3 months and if pain persists for more than 2 weeks or any bleeding come in right away. How is Dad doing?

Question about recurrence

Hi Barb,

I have another appt. with my gyne in May, which is 6 mos. from when I had my 6 week post op check up. She never mentioned a pap every 3 mos., but did tell me to continue to have yearly paps...maybe cause of my stage and grade I don't need every 3 mos since it was caught early??? But when I go in May, I will most certainly mention the 3 mos. thing to her. I will also pay attention to pain that lasts and watch for bleeding. Thank you for the info.

My Dad is doing real good. Thank you so much for asking. That was sweet of you. How are you doing?????? I pray well and cancer free!

Thanks again!

Question about recurrence

Hi SisterAngel

My gyne told me that recurrence would usually show itself with vaginal spotting, something like what I had when I was first diagnosed with endo cancer. He said that a visual is the best way to check the vagina for recurrence; I asked if CAT scans show and he said not usually. I'm now on 6 month examinations after almost a year of 3 month CAT scans following a lymphocele that finally resorbed.

Best wishes for a clear, healthy future - cancerhead be darned!

Hugs......Wendy
