Dr. just called with endo biopsy....hyster
Wow, I'm so overwhelmed right now. My Do just called to tell me I need a hysterectomy. I had a D&C for hyperplasia three years ago, everything came back from lab fine. I started having abnormal problems, went in for another endo biopsy and it came back atypical. (I also had a sonogram) Doc says it will be a vaginal hyst. I'm feeling very sad right now. I was told after my first diagnosis that it would more than likely come back, but I opted for the D&C instead of hyst. then, now I wish I had had the hysterectomy. I just returned full time to school this year to finish my degree, so Dr. is planning on March 16, working it around spring break, she advised not waiting until mid-May after semester. She said I will be able to return to school the 26th. I hope she is right because I'm only 13 hours (after this semester) away from graduating. I really don't know why I'm posting. I guess I'm really suprised as I've been feeling so good. I'm scared. I imagine that is very normal. Geesh, I just had my first colonoscopy and I fretted about that and it wasn't that bad, maybe this won't be either??
Anyway, guess I should introduce myself somewhere on this board, I'll go look for that thread. I'm rambling, but I'm feeling lost right now. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

I'm sorry you're facing surgery at this time. I can completely understand how overwhelmed you must feel right now.
We're here for you. Take some time and read some of the stories in the Tell your Hyst-Story sub-forum of this pre-op board. Also, the Hysterectomy Checkpoints is a tremendous source of information to help you prepare for what lies ahead.
As I said before, try to take a few deep breaths and relax right now. You have a little time to try and wrap your arms around this situation, and you've found the best support group on earth to help you through it. We're here for you whenever you need us.

To Post Or Not TO Post That is the question?
Post Darn it! Its the only way! Welcome to the sisterhood, and remember you came looking for information and these ladies have scores of it. Even if you know exactly what you are going to do, We have scores of support and we want to give that to you as well.
Its great that you have a supportive DH and a doctor who is going to work with your needs.
Its normal to feel sad, or like me just plain mad, or even crazy, I tend to try all three on at different times during the day, just for fun!
We all know how hard it is to balance a busy schedule and our health, but take it from someone who knows about health surprises, Put your health first and don't forget to
If you have tons of questions, just put your mind at ease, you've made it to the right place.
Oh and one more thing, there is a pretty cool section here for your husband to look through, my DH spends alot of time there, there and lurkng all over the site as a guest!
My best wishes for you and yours, Shalom
Widow

Dr. just called with endo biopsy....hyster
Box, I had just had my first colonoscopy 10/2005 then end up one year later with a hysterectomy. Question how long was it between the two endometrial biopsies? I had in 2003 the endometrial biopsy the went in a few months later with a D & C and hysteroscopy. The only thing found in both procedures was cervix stenois and my fibroids and enlarged uterus. I knew about the fibroids and uterus. Was ok until 2005. Then in 2005 I was getting lots of pain then into 2006 pain was so bad had MRI, Intravaginal, abdominal and renal ultrasounds. It found I had an ovarian cyst 9.3cm. Well no cancer, two drs said the samething and i had the hysterectomy. Sometimes health must come before a masters. You'll be able to do it. If you have gotten this far you'll do it. Try not to wait for your condition to worsen and you have a harder time to recover.

It's natural that you're feeling overwhelmed, but you have a bit of time to gather information. This site is a great resource for that. I had never had an abdominal surgery before and really did not know what to expect, but things went very smoothly, I got great care, and everything was fine. For a few minutes, I did ask, why me? After I got over that, I decided I was lucky to have this surgical option to solve my problems, and lucky that I did not have to wait months and months to have it done as some women do. I run my own business from home, and I was buying and installing new computer equipment around the time of my surgery. It made things a bit stressful, but everything that had to be done got done! You can do this.
