still having spotting after 2.5 months

Hello, new to site and wondered if anyone who has had a LA partial hysterectomy continued to have light bleeding? I had my surgery end of November and had my uterus and a canteloped sized fibroid removed. I have had spotting at the time of my regular cycle for the last two months...my doc says it could be some of the uterine tissue is through my cervix but he hasn't seen that in 25 years of his doing this surgery. I was hoping to lose that lovely bleeding when he removed my uterus...Thanks

Hi (((amantdocean)))

Welcome to Hystersisters! It sounds like you're having a miniperiod. This can happen when you keep your ovaries and your cervix. We see it pretty often on the boards here. Usually it's light and often it will get lighter and lighter and be gone. Everyone is different, depending on how much endometrial tissue is still there.
There is an article in the Post op articles on Miniperiods with some more information on this subject.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with it. Many women are surprised to find this happens when they keep their cervix.
's, Rita

I'm surprised your Surgeon said that ... I thought it was pretty common when the cervix and ovaries are kept ... I expected to experience a slight 'show' or spotting every month ... in fact, my Surgeon told me to expect it!

I do have to say the spotting was alot 'heavier' (although still nothing) in the first 6 months ... and now really is nothing ~ just the tiniest of smears when I wipe, on just one day. I don't even need a liner anymore.

Just remember ~ you have lost that 'lovely bleeding'! The cervix isn't capable of producing 1% of what your uterus did. Be patient ... it will gradually diminish.

I look upon it as a useful way to know that my ovaries are still doing their job!

Thanks preciouspearl and poodle for your info, I will check out the info on miniperiods...after seeing I was still bleeding this morning and having a bit of a crying jag about it, your messages were very helpful. Weird thing, I still have cramps and that all around yuck feeling I used to get when I had my periods...wish I had been told ahead of time what to expect...thanks again!
