Weight loss.....depression...could it be patch related?

Hey ladies. I have recently gone on a low carb diet and have lost 10 lbs over the past 3 weeks. Yay for me! Recently over the last week I have been having periods of depression and weepiness.....I started thinking I wonder if it was hormone related? I use the Climara patch .050 weekly. So I changed it out a day early this week to see if this helps the low moods. But I am starting to wonder if maybe the weight loss could have somehow changed the delivery of the estrogen in the patch....maybe I am absorbing it quicker or something? Anyways....just wanted to mention this and see if anyone else had experienced similar things. Thanks.

(((anna))) losing weight can increase your estrogen requirements. In general, younger, thinner, or more active women, or women under more stress, all need more estrogen than others. It's quite likely that you may need to move up to the next higher dose of patch.

One way to test this, if you are currently wearing your patches on your tummy, is to put them on your backside, where the absorption is about 20% higher. If that helps, then you know. Of course, if you're already wearing your patches on your behind, you'll want to ask your DR for some samples of a higher dose to see if that will help.
