Anxious about upcoming surgery

Hi!
I'm having TAH on 3/1/07 and I'm feeling anxious while I'm waiting...second guessing myself about whether or not I really need the procedure (I know that I do)... worrying about what it will be like post op. I know many people who have had this surgery and are fine, but I'm scared mostly about what I'll be like with that huge hormone drop. This is my first day here at hystersisters, so I'm kind of anxious being here too.

Boy do I understand your feelings!!! I've been second guessing myself since I found out I needed a hyst. My surgery is two days away .. Yet it feels like a lifetime. I just want to get it over with and start dealing with recovery.

Hang in there...Soon it will be all over and you can be a light of encouragement to other woman who are having the same feelings pre-surgery.

Anxious about upcoming surgery

I had TAH on the 12th Feb and I know exactly what your feeling. The first couple of days after surgery were not that good but almost bearable. Im 9 days post op now and feel fine. Had shivers and hot flushes but hey, not as bad as I felt before the surgery. Life gets better as from now. Waiting for the full recovery and the new woman inside me cant wait to make an appearance!!!!!
Good Luck with the up coming surgery and I wish you all the very best.

Anxious about upcoming surgery

I found this site yesterday and am so glad there's someone with the same feelings as me. I'll pray for you if you pray for me. I'm scheduled for March7, the day before my 35th birthday.

You ladies in waiting are experiencing a very difficult part of the process but before you know it, it will be over and you can concentrate on recovering.
The week before my surgery I had those doubts, and I prayed that the good Lord give me sign that I was doing the right thing. My sign was a heavy painful period that I had the next day only a week since my last one ended. I kept myself busy the days before my surgery, and before I knew it was in the operating room and my doc was telling me he was going to take care of my heavy periods. And then I awoke a new improved women....And here I am today four weeks later!
I will pray that you ladies are treated with the kindness and compassion like I was in the hospital, have wonderful caring family member(s) and friends to take care of you afterwards, and an uneventful recovery like I had. Blessings to you!

Anxious about upcoming surgery

This is my first day here. 16 days to go. It is really, really hard. I am so scared of being put to sleep, and hormonal crash after surgery. I wish you the best. I hope to make it 16 days without a nervous breakdown.

I completely understand wondering if you're going to have a complete breakdown before it happens. Focusing at work is next to impossible and I have been through countless tissue boxes - I'm now on Puffs Plus.

I know it easier said than done, but try not to stress over the things you have no control over. If it would make you feel better, make an appt and discuss your concerns with your doctor.
I will pray that you find some comfort in knowing that by having your hyster you are improving you life. Have faith in your doctor and the good Lord above and leave the worrying to them.

Anxious about upcoming surgery

The toughest thing is that I don't have children and really did want them. Friends tell me there's always adoption. In my head I know that, but in my heart, I'm really sad that it will never happen.
