anyone using Mirena IUD?

I finally saw a urogynaecologist and she said the prolapse isn;t bad enough to warrant a hysterectomy - yet! but the day will come.

In the meantime she is going to fix the cystocele and also insert a Mirena IUD to control the awful periods. Apparently this particular IUD reduces bleeding, unlike other types. I have been looking on the internet and it doesn;t seem to have any awful side effects either.

So I am hopeful... Surgery is in early April

Has anyone BTDT?

anyone using Mirena IUD?

Hi bibliophile

I haven't BTDT, but my younger sister has and she's doing great with her Mirena. Her neurologist wanted her off systemic hormones so the Mirena was a good option for her bleeding issues. She had some annoying spotting for the first few months that frustrated her, but she's glad she stuck with it because she hardly even has a period now. She says it's almost nothing. Barely needs a pantiliner. Hope you do well with it. Please keep us posted, okay?

Best wishes & s,
Beth

anyone using Mirena IUD?

I used the mirena iud. I liked it my periods were better. But after 7 months I got a infection, that put me in the hospital for 4 days. My dr said that was odd because usally women get a infection after its inserted. Other then that I liked.
Good luck!!!

anyone using Mirena IUD?

I have had two mirena coils. The first one was great minimal spotting and almost no pain. It was removed after about five years. Almost immediately I went back to my periods been heavier than ever and painful . Another coil was fitted this was ok up to about eighteen months of use. The pain returned which resulted me to take to my bed every month. Cannot tolerate anything stronger than paracetamol. Hysterectomy suggested as I also have adenomyosis. TAH performed on the 8th Feb. Hope this is of some help.

anyone using Mirena IUD?

Hi ladies
Thanks for the feedback. I am beginning to look forward to this, less/no periods will be a joy after the gruesome last couple of decades and feeling like I can't trust my body!
So maybe I'll have 5 years in which to lose weight (ack) then do something about the -ectomy too!
Not looking fwd quite as much to the cystocele repair. But the doc will be able to examine things a bit more too whilst I'm knocked out. She said it will be "diagnostic and therapeutic". Sounds good enough to me.
