Endo Cancer??
Welcome!
Endo cancer is a cancer that starts in the endometrium or lining of the uterus. For me, it wasn't related to endometrosis (I think this is where the lining ends up were it doesn't belong.) My symptoms were spotting after menopause. Just once. Others on this board have talked about hyplasia with atypia as a warning.
If you have any reason to be concerned, I would see my gyn as soon as possible. If cancer is suspected, get a referral to a gyn oncologist. It is the best thing you can do for your health.
Hope this helps. Sending you a
Lyn

Endo Cancer??
Thank you for replying - so it is basically cancer inside the uturus?? I thought it was endometrosis turning into cancer - I had a hysterectomy (uturus, cervix left ovary removed in 98)

Endo Cancer??
The endometrium is the lining of the uterus. In those of us with endometriosis, the lining can escape the uterus and implant all over the pelvis (and sometimes outside, too -- I had a tiny patch in my lung, of all places ). So endometrial cancer is, for most intents and purposes, uterine cancer.
In those of us with endo, we can in rare cases see that endometrium that is outside the uterus become cancerous. That's why my doctor put me on progesterone to balance out my estrogen after my hysterectomy. It is exceedingly rare, although not unheard of, for someone to get endometrial cancer in an endometriosis "spot." However, my understanding is that endometriosis does NOT make you more prone to endometrial cancer or at higher risk. And endometriosis itself, although it does act like some cancers (for example, creating its own blood supply), is NOT a malignancy.
Hope this helps!
