Premarin 0.3

Is anyone on this? I had a TVH on 1/4/07. I am 8 weeks post op today. I am still not fully healed. This has been a long battle for me. I saw my DR today and he feels that the ovaries are not working properly. He was me to try premarin to help with all of my symptoms. What are the side effects of this? I REALLY do NOT want to do any HRT (strong family history of breast cancer.....mom and both grandmothers). Thank you all for any advice.

I would give the hrt a chance, since you are having symptoms and still trying to heal. There are some risks with all hrt,but the risks goes up mainly when one has been on it for several years and past natural menopause age. You are taking a very low dose , which is very little risk.

You are young for your body to be going without hormones, so for at least for a short term you might benefit from it at least till your body adjust and heals from this surgery.

Hope you feel better soon. It can take a couple of weeks before the hrt works fully in your body, so be patient with it. Hrt sometimes has to have dosage adjusts and this is not uncommon. There are all kinds of hrt, patches, pills, and creams and everyone is different so if this does not suit you, be sure to let your dr know and have him give you something else. I found the Vivelle dot patch to be very helpful.

If you would like to read and research more about hormones please take a look at our Resource library under the Hormone section.

Thank you so much for your response. I did take it last night and not sure if it is related tot aking it or my body just exhausted, but I was able to sleep all night long. I have tried the vivelle dot in the past (I was taking it during my period to help off set my migraines several months before the TVH). I did not problems with it, so I was a little surprised that he went this route this time. My husband diffently says that I need it (the HRT).......lol. My DR thinks that this will also help calm down my bladder as well. I am ready to have energy, remember things, sleep well , no vaginal dryness feeling and NO more night sweats.

I've been on Premarin .3 for 3 weeks. I called my doctor today to get something else. One of the side effects is "difficulty falling asleep". That hit me about four days ago. My doctor is switching me to a patch and says that will help with that problem. I don't know which patch until I pick it up.

There have been several reports in the past week about how the patch is safer than pills because the estrogen goes straight into the bloodstream rather than being metabolized through the liver. Makes some sense.
