Reconstruction of pelvic floor

I am doing really great since a 6/4/01 TAH due to a complex ovarian cyst. My incision is healing fine, daily showers are revitalizing and have been out to a store and my daughter's school.

Due to a really bad tear during childbirth 7 years ago, my pelvic floor/muscles had become weaker and weaker. I felt as if my insides were going to break through. My Dr. did a reconstruction of the area & those are the stitches that are the most troublesome. It's worse than the post-delivery feeling. I feel like I'll never feel normal there again.

Has anyone experienced this procedure and can offer any support? Help!!!

Reconstruction of pelvic floor

Hi, Chris!

Glad to hear you are doing well from your TAH. I did not have a pelvic floor reconstruction, but I did have a part of my posterior vaginal wall removed and ended up with stitches in my perineum as well as the stitches from my TAH. I assume there are some similarities to our procedures as well as differences. I must say, the perineal stitches were a much more difficult recovery and it was a few weeks before I could sit well. It was tough having 2 sets of stitches and 2 areas of tenderness. I wish you well with your recovery. Please feel free to PM or email me if you need anyone to talk to.

Oh, I just wanted to add, you are only one week out. Please try to rest as much as possible so that you recover well.
