emotional rollercoaster

It has been exactly one week since TVH/A&P repair for prolapse, fibroids and adeno. Physically I feel great but emotionally I am a wreck. Sunday morning I found myself crying at my son's disney cartoon. By the afternoon I was fine. Monday morning everything was dismal and blue, then back up again. Today its more tears. I think I am going nuts. I got to keep my ovaries (dr. said they were perfect) so why am I so up and down? Has anyone else had this reaction to the surgery? I hate to be a whiner but this has really been bothering me. Thanks.

emotional rollercoaster

Redgirl, that is absolutely normal! I cried at everything for the first 2 weeks after my surgery.

People must have thought I was nuts! They would just call to ask how I was and I would say okay, then start crying when I described my surgery, which had gone well.

I kept my ovaries too, so I'm not sure if it was a hormonal reaction or just the fact that it is such an emotional experience.

Don't worry, you're just like the rest of us!

I had one functioning ovary after surgery, and I still went through this. It really doesn't matter if you've kept both, one or NO ovaries...you are most likely going to be riding the hormonal rollercoaster in the early weeks after surgery. This surgery is a shock to your body, and the ovaries may also go into shock, not "waking up" for awhile. It took me about a month. Also, you will feel better as your physical recovery progresses. If you aren't getting enough rest, that will particularly set you up for emotional upheaval, so keep resting!

My very best to you...

Linda
