I have a Question about "mini" periods

I have a question about Mini-periods? I had my Hysterectomy done on 1/4/07. My Dr. removed my uterus and my cervix. I have been experiencing some bleeding (light spotting to a tiny bit more). The first two weeks I had nothing, then occassional spotting after that. My period would be due right about now and I started spotting again (light pink) mostly on the TP. Can you have a mini-period even w/ out a cervix? Or is this likely to be caused from sutures dissolving? I did keep both my ovaries.

Thanks,
Tammy

I have a Question about "mini" periods

Hello!
Nope, you won't have a mini-period since the doctor also removed the cervix. My doctor said it would be normal to have spotting for 6 weeks. I actually only spotted (light pink, yellow or tan discharge) for 3 weeks, and have been discharge-free for 2 months! Yipee!!!!

It is always best to confirm with your doctor. So, while your spotting is probably normal, your doctor would be the best person to verify it's A-OK.

Heal well Princess!

I know it is normal to spot. I have also heard that sometimes a small amount of cervix can be left in by mistake. I would definitely bring this up at your post-op.

I have a Question about "mini" periods

As I understand it, it doesn't just have to be the cervix but any tiny amount of endometrial tissue that may be left, that may possibly lead to a mini-period.

But, with a hyster, it could be a number of other things also. Definitely check with your doctor to be on the safe side.

I have a Question about "mini" periods

Thanks for all the replies. I have already had my post-op appointment at which time he said some spotting was normal, but I have since had the spotting around the time I would have my period. It lasted just a few days and then it was gone. I will call and ask my Dr. about it and see what he says. I wonder if they use any little reminant of the cervix to make the vaginal cuff?

Thanks to all my hyster sisters that replied. I don't know what I would do w/out all of you.
