LSH april 5

Hi Ladies,
A question for anyone who has had a LSH.....I've heard alot of women say they return to their jobs after 2 weeks or so. I'm a nurse and I do homecare for a 22 month old child, so alot of my day is spent holding/lifting him and getting on the floor and doing therapy and playing with him (it's an awesome job!). So will I have to take the full 6 weeks off of work because of the lifting? Have any of you been given the ok to lift earlier in your recovery. He weighs approx 25#.
I met with anesthesia today and had the preop testing done (ekg, chest xray and lab work). I am feeling less anxious and nervous. I just want to get it over with! I'm worried about having surgury with a HGB of 10.4 but my doctor says he has done it with lower HGB than that. Looking forward to the yummy clear liquid diet and the 32 pooping pills!!
Thankyou everyone for the advice you have given me in response to my posts and for all the knowledge I've gained by reading about your experiences. The support here is amazing!

I don't personally know but I wish you the best of luck. I know on the post op board, no one went back to a lifting job after 2 weeks no matter what type of hysterectomy they had.

I was told at 10 days that I could do whatever felt comfortable. But it took a few more weeks until I felt ready to start lifting anything more than 10 pounds or so.

Hi Carolyn,

I would check with your Dr. I went back to work at 2 weeks and my LSH Dr. told me not to lift anything over 15 lbs until my 6 week mark.

My doctor released me to do anything after two weeks. I work out at the gym and I questioned lifting weights but he told me to take it slowly and didn't give me a weight restriction. It took me about a full two months to get back to my pre-surgery workout times and weights.
