Mad Monday, 26 March!

Nanno...you can never say too much about your DS to me!! Love hearing it!! I have two of my own, and our world revolves around them! You're going to have a ball...and you're right, the scale may not show the full 10 pounds, but I've noticed that the walking is tightening "things" up so clothes are looser! Good for you...you can go feeling great and looking great! ENJOY!

to DS! 21 is a big one!

I was a teacher and I say: God bless parents who love and support their kids!! It's a tricky world out there!

Mad Monday, 26 March!

Cruise? Someone said they are going on a cruise? I must have missed that announcement somehow?

Hi BESTers It's been a cool and mostly cloudy day here. Can't wait for that mid-west warmth to come thru. I was pretty good this weekend with my food. Didn't hardly eat at that retirement party. Got my done yesterday. Sorry Sue - no extra room in the cart for your stuff. Maybe next time.

Didn't get on the scale, but my jeans are tight today. I think it's more that things have loosened up. I miss the step class where I got toned and tightened. It's all following gravity and pooling around my ankles. LOL.

Dinner last night was roast chicken which I put tad of butter & garlic cloves under skin and herbs, herbs, onions, garlic, etc in the cavity and roasted. The smell was devine and tasted pretty also. Did steamed couliflower and peas & carrots on the side. Made a nice Sunday dinner.

Today:
Bkft - 1 egg feta cheese/scallion omlet (no milk) w/2 slices LS bacon, hot tea
Lunch - 2 oz roast beef w/provolone cheese wrap (whole wheat tortilla) w/fresh lettuce & tomato, hot tea
Dinner - something with lean ground beef I think.
Snack - I'm having some trail mix right now. Nothing this evening as DH and I probably will plan to go out to movies. I refuse to pay theater prices for popcorn.

Errends done and we're going to start cleaning out our auto tent to continue prep for our new garage style shed. Got to "get er done"!

*Nanno - did I see that you went to library on a Sunday? Wish mine were open on Sundays.
*Sue - cool you found a treadmill. Hope it's still on sale. Tell um you'll buy it for the "sale price" if not. All they can say is no right?
*Fran - clocks back today? Enjoy the extra hour. Finally used to ours.
*MaryKay - hugs to your mom. Hope she's recovering nicely. You've got a good son to help you.
*Desk - no 4am walk? I'm shocked!
*Anne - to BEST - I live about 30 minutes north of Sea Isle City!
*Lynn - cheated and blind? say it isn't so! LOL Your too funny.
*Sharon - believe me don't do it unless it feels right. I have to watch even harder than before everything that goes into my mouth. Glad someone has noticed your hard work, even if the scale is not cooperating.
*PJ - hope all's well with your folks. My dad had been avoiding me - and me him. He calls up and wants to talk with me when he comes back from a visit in PA w/lady friend. This does not bode well. But it is what it is.

To those with elder care issues my heart goes out to all of us. It's hard to raise kids and take care of parents also. Especially when it's a time in our lives we just want to relax and enjoy some fun. Ahh well. Such is life.

Hugs to each of you - got to force DH back up off couch. His BS took a drop before lunch and he's napping. Gotta get him moving in the fresh air. LOL.

I'll check in later tonight after movie perhaps.

Mad Monday, 26 March!

Sorry Melissa, it's clocks forward here, so we lose an hour's sleep

I'm down to 140lbs! I just would like to lose a few more pounds so I can be 130something, and also then I have a few pounds to play with for anything edible coming my way.

This summer, I'm going to treat myself (over time, can't afford it in one go!) to a whole new wardrobe. The only thing that annoys me, is my tummy isn't anywhere near describable as flat, this is probably down to my hyster and kids as much as anything, but I can live with a sticky out tum as long as I don't slip back into all my old habits.

My old habits to avoid are:
Gorging on chocolate ~ just because I can afford 2 or 3 bars of chocolate, doesn't mean that I have to buy them, or eat them.
I don't have to clear my plate because it's ingrained from childhood. Clear it away when I've eaten enough.
Value for money does not mean you have to have your plate piled high, quality, not quantity matters more.
Exercise, fruit, veg, water are my friends.
Everything in moderation is good
If I'm unhappy, read a book, watch tv. Eating will not make me happier.

I think I've covered most of my pitfalls, mindless munching is a thing of the past. I've created a new lifestyle for myself and I am NOT going to slip!

My friends, you have been with me every pound of the way
All I need to do is lose a couple more pounds and maintain this weight and lifestyle! s

Mad Monday, 26 March!

Wow Fran...you just totally inspired me with your list of old pitfall habits. Thanks! 's
Now I need to put them in play so I can get into a more healthy eating pattern. Even when I lose weight..it's not usually due to healthy eating. It's a short lived plan that I can't live with forever.
I think the Moderation is the key here.

We can do this!!

Yep Fran - clocks forward. I ment for you to enjoy that extra hour of daylight! Just think - another hour to fill with something else that needs doing.

Good for you reaching 140! That's fantastic. You've done such a good job, have such good insite as to what works for you and have stuck to your goals. That's the BEST comming out in it's full glory.

Nancy - glad to see you back here and keeping us straight. We miss you when your gone.

Well friends, looks like no movie out tonight. DH never really felt well after his sugar incident. He's tired and feels "funny". He's flushed but that could be from a tad of sunburn from yesterday spent outside. I'm keeping a close eye on him. Maybe he's fighting off something? His BS was perfect, just low for him (83) when he's used to running in the low 100's (105-110). He's on a new med and I think it works strangly and he's still not used to it when it kicks in. This pill is taken every day, but works only when it needs to, doesn't work if it doesn't have to? Interesting how they make these "smart" pills.

Dinner was salisbury steak (about 2.5 oz) in mushroom gravy (very little for me - made with LF/LS mushroom soup), lite egg noodles (1/4C), and green beans (1/4C). Haven't made it in a while.

OK - off to see if neighbor wants to walk with me instead.

Fran!!!!! You are inspiring. I so want to weigh ANYWHERE in the 140's I'll take it!!!!!!!!!!!! And you say it like it is. We MUST simply change our eating habits get rid of the bad and make new ones a part of our lives. I have made more salads in the last couple months than I have in the last whole year. Because each of you has inspired me to take the time to make and eat the right foods and WALK.

PJ...I saw my DS at Christmas and then again about 2 weeks ago. With him on the other side of the state we don't see him nearly as much as we'd like. He's got a part-time job at the school, is doing well with his studies and holds the position of treasurer for his fraternity----so he's pretty busy!

Ate meatless spaghetti and a salad for dinner after a nice walk with DH a BEAUTIFUL amazingly pretty evening in Michigan...we can hear the frogs and birds just chirping away!!!!! SPRING HAS FINALLY SPRUNG

ooopppps gotta go watch antique roadshow

Mad Monday, 26 March!

Hi all,
Wow - a busy day for me, and I really got my workout done today...FINALLY!
Took the DgD to the Y this a.m. and walked a solid hour - I lost count on the laps (I need to figure out a bead thing or something so I can keep track...brain fog!) but I know it was at least 3 miles maybe more. Then she took a 3 hour nap while I got a few things done around the house and late this afternoon we took another walk outside...about 1 1/2-2 miles. Then I came home and took my advil and a hot bath.
But I feel great.
Oh - and a friend has asked me to train with her for a 1/2 marathon (Prevention walk) in October...so we figured from now til July we're training to begin the training...then they give a 12 week plan that we will start on. And if I could drop 20 or so pounds doing this I would be soooooo happy. Last year there was no way I could have done it...but this year I am really excited about it. So wish me luck!
Ohio State - Final Four...disappointed that UNC is not in...so sorry.
DH has me printing things for the business...so I must go now. Catch you all tomorrow.
